Sacrilege: Premieres Music Video for First New Song in 25 Years‏

‘Legendary UK crust/thrash pioneers SACRILEGE have shared a new music video taken from the remastered reissue of their 1985 classic Behind The Realms of Madness. The song, “Feed”, is a bonus track on the reissue and the band’s first new recording in over 25 years.

Now fully remastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Hooded Menace, Obituary) with seven previously unreleased bonus tracks and expanded art and liner notes, the Relapse reissue of Behind The Realms of Madness (due out November 13) is the first-ever authorized reissue of SACRILEGE‘s landmark debut. Behind The Realms of Madness is available for physical preorder via Relapse and digitally via Bandcamp.

SACRILEGE‘s 1985 debut album Behind The Realms of Madness garnered no small acclaim at the time of its release, but has since been heralded as a classic of the era and as a release that was far ahead of its time; artists like Bolt Thrower and Napalm Death have even cited the album as an enormous influence on their music. The band’s 2nd release Within the Prophecy (1987) pushed SACRILEGE further into the realm of thrash metal, earning the band increased credibility and prestige in metal circles. SACRILEGE later moved towards folk and doom with its 1989 LP Turn Back Trilobite, a record that displayed the band’s true versatility and which cemented the band’s reputation for innovation and strong songwriting.

Spotify Pulls The Victory Records Catalog, Refuses To Pay Royalties‏

Victory Records’ catalog of music was pulled from Spotify last night as a result of Spotify not properly paying publishing revenues due to Victory Records’ artists in blatant violation of US Copyright laws. Spotify also pulled down a very large number of albums that Victory is not the publisher for proving that their internal systems are inadequate. We asked that our catalog not be pulled, that we would amicably work with Spotify, and they haphazardly removed our content regardless. 53,000,000 streams, as per Spotify’s statements, were identified with no publishing royalties being paid by Spotify.

Late yesterday, Spotify sent over a document giving them mechanical clearance to use our music. We could not sign said document for a variety of reasons, most importantly, that it would put us in direct violation of our agreement with Audiam ( Spotify knows we are in business with Audiam and were essentially asking us to breach/ignore that agreement. The issue of nonpayment for songwriters and composers is a widespread problem and not exclusive to Victory Records’ artists. We understand your frustration with not being able to listen to the music you enjoy (and most pay for via subscription).

The bottom line is that artists and songwriters are not being paid and fans of Victory’s artists cannot listen to the music.

New Autopsy Video Interview @ California Death Fest In Oakland, California

autopsy 1

Todd Owens talks Death, Desecration, Abcess, Violation Wound influences, gear and more vocalist with Chris Reifert of Autopsy @ Oakland Metro Operahouse @ California Death Fest

Autopsy was formed in August 1987 by Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler, shortly after Reifert’s departure from Death. The band recorded a demo that year, Demo ’87, beforeDanny Coralles joined in 1988 immediately prior to the recording of their second demo, Critical Madness, and along with Reifert and Cutler, would be a constant in the band’s lineup. The band signed to Peaceville Records and released their debut album, Severed Survival in 1989. These early recordings featured a straightforward thrash-influenced death metal style in a similar vein to Scream Bloody Gore era Death (Reifert was Death’s drummer on that album), but the band adopted a slower, doom metal influenced sound for their next release, the 1990 Retribution for the Dead EP. The next full-length, Mental Funeral, continued in this style and has since been cited by many other death metal musicians (particularly in the Swedish scene) as particularly influential. Having completed a successful European tour soon after Mental Funeral, the band reentered the studio to record the Fiend for Blood EP, which was followed by their third full-length, Acts of the Unspeakable, which featured shorter songs and a more grindcore influenced sound. A difficult US tour in 1993 led to the decision to disband Autopsy after the recording of a final album. Shitfun, released in early 1995, was heavily influenced byhardcore punk and would prepare fans for Abscess, previously a side project of Danny Coralles and Chris Reifert which would become their main band after Autopsy’s demise.
