Watch Slayer Reign In Blood On Jimmy Fallon

Two-time Grammy-winning thrash/metal legends SLAYER performed their iconic song “Raining Blood” on last night’s (Thursday, July 27) edition of NBC‘s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. They also took part in a “Tales From Tour” segment in which they shared road stories about a free throw gone wrong, leaving bandmates at rest stops and a crazy night in Canada. Check out the footage below.

Immediately following yesterday’s taping of “The Tonight Show”SLAYER headed over to New York’s Theatre at Madison Square Garden where the band headlined as part of its summer U.S. tour.

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King was asked if there are any plans in place for the band to begin working on a follow-up to 2015’s “Repentless” album. He responded: “Funny thing is, ‘Repentless’ isn’t even two years old yet, though it seems like it is. But from that session, there are six or eight songs that are recorded — some with vocals, some with leads, but all with keeper guitar, drums and bass. So when those songs get finished lyrically, if the lyrics don’t change the songs, they’ll be ready to be on the next record. So we already have more than half a record complete, if those songs make it.”

He continued: “This is actually the most prepared we’ve ever been for the next record in our history; there’s no reason to not do more work, because it’s already more than halfway done. Just write four or five new songs, and give the others some attention, and we’ll be good to go. If we get a down period of time, which I know is coming at the end of this year, maybe we’ll focus on that and get to it.”

Pressed about whether it’s “conceivable” that we could see a new SLAYER record next year, Kerry said: “It’s conceivable — but I’m certainly not gonna promise it, because every time I do, I make a liar of myself! [Laughs]”

Stu “The Hammer” Marshall of Night Legion Interviewed

Forged in the fires of internationally acclaimed acts ranging from Death Dealer and Blasted to Static to Empires of Eden and Aussie metal royalty Dungeon, Night Legion unleashes razor-sharp power metal to make your ears bleed – in the best possible way.
How did you first get in to music? Who turned you onto rock/metal?

Definitely Kiss and Ace Frehley,. seeing Kiss in the 70’s made most kids want to be rockstars

How did you become a guitarist and are you proficient in any other instruments ?
I originally got involved thanks to my cousin who had a few guitars. I remember visiting him and just lusting after these guitars and in time, he was cool enough to give me one – it was a great day for a 6 year old kid.

What was the local scene in Sydney, Australia like in the beginning? Was there a particular band you aspired to be like, favorite local bands back then, favorite local bands now?

Australia has had a fairly strong local metal scene since the 80’s and for me, when I got into bands in the late 80’s it was a great time. Of course I wanted to be like the guys in Metallica, Iron Maiden – out touring and dreaming of heading off around the globe

Has there been times when drugs and alcohol were beneficial to the band.

I have never been involved with drugs, but I like a drink – I think if you have good guys who like a drink then it helps with the metal vibes for me. Some people should stay away from it though if it makes them assholes.

How would you best describe your sound?

Night Legion is straight down aggressive power metal really.. no prog or jazz – Just high screaming power metal

Is doing pre-sales the same thing as pay to play?

Well, with the pre-sale system you get the cash back and the chance to play so they are pretty different. I have done both though and they both have their merits.

What was the first music you bought and what have you bought more than once?

For me it was the Iron Maiden album (Maiden Japan), the album cover really called to me which when you’re 7 years old, really speaks more than a lot of music on the radio.

DIY forever or signing with a label at first opportunity?

I like a label where the deal is good. It legitimizes sales and you have a team handling the album that is focused on the correct way to promote.  but… it’s all about the deal and signing a bad deal is something that can haunt a band for a long time.

Whats the biggest show you have played so far and do you still get nervous before a gig?

I don’t get nervous anymore, but the biggest show was Moscow in front of about 8000 people

Is commercial rock radio dead?

I honestly have no idea.. I don’t listen to radio anymore…

Favorite songs on the new finished album and why?

I think “The Eye of Hydra” – super powerful and Vo’s lyrics are just killer

Out of all your songs which one touches you the most when you perform it?

Possibly “The Warrior”, it was written for a very young fan who  is suffering but fighting health conditions.

Are there any political or social issues hidden in Night Legion songs ?

No.. we stay clear of those topics..

What was the process of putting the songs in order. Writing?

I usually come up with the musical ideas and work on them with the singer. Everyone is given open movement to play what they like so we get everyone’s involvement

What endorsements do you have and what endorsements do you still want?

I’m lucky to be endorsed by ESP Guitars, Atomic Amplifier, Elixir strings, DSL straps and Dunlop – I am searching for an amplifier endorsement now.

Bands you would love to tour with and musician or artist you would like to meet and interrogate.

I‘d really like to head out with someone like Judas Priest.. that would be pretty amazing.

Song to be played at your funeral and 3 albums to take to your grave?

Nessun dorma, Defenders (Manowar), Holy Diver (DIO)- and the three albums.. Piece of Mind (Iron Maiden), Ace of Spades (Motorhead) and Hail to England (Manowar)

Final thoughts, shout outs, dirty jokes?

Ahhh, no jokes but please drop past and check us out at our website and Facebook.

The Return Of Lionheart?

Image may contain: 3 people, beard and text

From the Lionheart Facebook page

When we announced our breakup, over a year ago, we meant it. Balancing jobs and personal lives w/ trying to tour full time was impossible, so we chose to take a step back. However, it wasn’t long before we all missed it. This is what we’ve known for over a decade and this is who we are. We all miss playing shows and releasing music, so fuck it: We are back. We’ll never be a full time band again, but close friends of ours have encouraged us to join them on a short run, so we will share that info later today. We never should have broken up in the first place, but we’ve been fucking up since day 1 so why change now? Life is short. See you soon. LHHC

KISS’s Gene Simmons is opening a restaurant in Vacaville.

Celebrity restaurants tend to flame out in the Sacramento area, as the closures of Sammy Hagar and Guy Fieri restaurants in recent years attest.

Progressive Tech Death Collective Arkaik To Release Nemethia

Progressive tech death collective Arkaik will unleash the anticipated Nemethia, this fall via Unique Leader Records. A continuation on the conceptual saga of the two previous releases, on Nemethiathe journey of Cyrix expands into new landscapes, as does the band’s technical prowess and creativity.
Their fourth full length for Unique Leader and most ambitious studio album to date was produced, engineered, and mixed by Zack Ohren (Immolation, Fallujah, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth et al.) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California, and features guest appearances by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, Arde Ostowari formerly of Burning The Masses, Stephen Paulson of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and former Arkaik guitarist Craig Peters, as well as Gabe Seeber from The Kennedy Veil and Decrepit Birth (live) performing drums for the entire album. The cover art and booklet was designed by visionary artist Tyler Space, who worked with the band on their previous release, Lucid Dawn.
Arkaik has been hard at work creating a series of wildly psychedelic concept albums revolving around a protagonist named Cyrix, a disillusioned character in a dystopian society. Cyrix’ latest journey introduces new characters and brings you into a world of dark occultists, magical allies, and hidden forces. From resurrecting ancient goddesses to cracking the codes of reality and activating hyper dimensional stargates, the chronicle of Cyrix continues.
Said founding vocalist Jared Christianson of the record’s concept, “This album fully sets the stage and builds on the story we started developing two albums ago with Cyrix and Metamorphignition. We’ve begun weaving together our own mythos of synchronicity and symbolism to encapsulate and distill the journey of the alchemist through the gnostic dream. It attempts to reveal through storytelling and allegory that we can experience real freedom and discover the inner treasures that guide us to who, what, and where we want to be, if we are willing to pull back the veil of lies blinding us from the truth of our nature. If I could sum up everything we’ve done so far, my personal journey and our message as a band in three words it would be the lyric ‘pain to power’ from the song ‘Telegnosis.’ To me, it’s about transmuting your struggles into strengths and refining your personal power and will. I really enjoyed making this album and hope people dig it!”
Adds guitarist Greg Paulson of the sound and songwriting process, “This is the most involved I’ve been on an Arkaik record so far. The songs are more thought out and meticulously crafted. I wanted to retain the sonic brutality Arkaik is known for, while introducing new elements to further expand on the band’s sound. I incorporated greater symphonic instrumentation throughout the record and utilized my classical background to add more depth and dynamics to the arrangements. The album is overall more complex, I even added some harmonized vocals to blend with Jared’s voice, making for some interesting layered textures. This is sure to be the most unique Arkaik album to date. I’m really proud of what we created and hope people enjoy it.”
Nemethia will see release on CD and digital formats on September 29th via Unique Leader Records. Preorder bundles will be available in the coming weeks.
In advance of the record’s release, Arkaik will kick off a US headlining tour on September 8th. The Occultivating The Masses tour will run through October 7th and features support from Alterbeast and Inanimate Existence. See all confirmed dates below.
