West Hartford, CT symphonic blackened deathcore outfit, Shadow Of Intent, dropped a brand new track over the Easter weekend, entitled ‘Underneath A Sullen Moon.’ The new track is taken from writing and recording sessions that got underway in late 2017 and had to be sidelined early this year as other commitments took precedence. ‘Underneath A Sullen Moon’ was completed during these sessions which were once again produced by SoI guitarist Chris Wiseman, before being sent off to Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Beyond Creation) for mixing and mastering.
Vocalist Ben Duerr had the following to say about the song’s lyrical content and the meaning behind it:
“Although the song is not about this exact situation, it is indeed about suicide. I wrote this track about a myself and an attempt I made on my own life a few years ago. This song is very personal to me. Although it is a bit exaggerated, it was more of a “what if I went through with it?” scenario. From there I sculpted this into what will be the next concept.”
Shadow Of Intent are also gearing up to hit the road next Friday (4/13/18) as part of this years initial installment of the Chaos and Carnage Tour alongside headliners Carnifex, and heavy hitters in Oceano, Winds of Plague, Archspire and more. This run will also see Shadow Of Intent making their debut Massachusetts performance as they take part in the 20th Anniversary of the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival at the Palladium in Worcester, MA. Shadow Of Intent will be performing on Friday April 20, 2018 alongside Soulfly, Nile, Thy Art Is Murder, Dying Fetus, and many more, with death metal legends Morbid Angel headlining day 1 of the fest.
