DIRE PERIL Premiere Video “Queen of The Galaxy”

American sci-fi power metal duo DIRE PERIL featuring Jason Ashcraft (Helion Prime) and vocalist John Yelland (Judicator) are premiering their latest lyric video “Queen of The Galaxy” featuring Unleash The Archers vocalist Brittney Slayes whom reprise’s her role as Barbarella for a re-recorded version of the track. The song is their second single off their upcoming album “The Extraterrestrial Compendium” due out November 9th, 2018 via Divebomb Records to follow their three previous EP releases “Astronomical Minds” (2013), “Queen of The Galaxy” (2014) and “Through Time and Space” (2015).

The band comments: “Telling the story of Barbarella the Queen of the Galaxy, we are joined by the first guest musician on the album Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers). This is actually a re-recording of an older Dire Peril track and the lyrics were written by original vocalist Norman Skinner.

Check out the premiere of “Queen of The Galaxy” below.

Inspired by all manners of science fiction, “The Extraterrestrial Compendium” bases each one of its 12 songs on classic sci-fi movies including Predator, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, and E.T. and features guest performances by Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers) and the mighty Arjen Anthony Luccassen (Ayreon, Star One, The Gentle Storm).

“The album takes you on a journey all based on different sci-fi films. From fast aggressive right hand attacks (in style of Iced Earth) to softer acoustic passages.” adds Jason Ashcraft.

Melodic Metal Trailblazers Amaranthe Release “Countdown” Single and Video

With their electrifying fifth album HELIX due out October 19 through Spinefarm Records and armed with new singer Nils Molin, the almighty Amaranthe are taking another leap forward in their sonic evolution.
The band has dropped the video for the new single “Countdown.”
Watch the video, directed by longtime collaborator Patric Ullaeus, below.
“As the days and weeks are getting closer to the release of HELIX, what better way to illustrate our excitement and veritable impatience than by releasing our second single titled ‘Countdown’?,” asked Amaranthe guitarist and composer Olof Mörck. “Drawing upon a darker theme and subject matter than your typical Amaranthe song, the sonic landscape itself forms a perfect counterpoint to this more serious side of the band. The contrasts have perhaps never been stronger, the ambitions never higher, and confidence never more solid – Amaranthe in 2018 in its purest, most distilled form is ‘Countdown.'”
Four albums into their career, Amaranthe have racked up north of 118 million YouTube views and half-a-billion song streams, have landed at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart three times, and possess a panoply of gold and platinum discs for albums and singles alike.
HELIX proves the band has refined its melodic sensibilities ever further while retaining a cutting-edge metal assault. The video and single for “Countdown” once again showcase the band’s unique musical sound and vision.

This year, not only do we have NITA STRAUSS‘s live solo debut, we’ve also got Jacky Vincent, who both will continue to carry the torch of instrumental guitar music for generations to come. I can’t wait to get on stage night after night to jam with my friends.
NITA STRAUSS adds, “These will be my first shows ever as a solo artist, and I couldn’t have hoped for a better fitting tour. I’ve been a huge fan of Angel’s since I first discovered his music and became an even bigger fan when I saw his incredible live performance. Luicidal featuring ex members of Suicidal Tendencies to release new album “Born In Venice”

Venice, CA – the birthplace of SKATEPUNK and the band that catapulted the movement worldwide the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES.   Their debut self titled album featured the punk hits I Saw Your Mommy…, Suicidal Failure, Possessed and Institutionalized, the first hardcore punk hit to receive substantial airplay on the still growing all music channel MTV.  Their 1987 sophomore album JOIN THE ARMY, although didn’t live up to the expectations of its predecessor, did spawn the hits War Inside My Head, Possessed to Skate, and Born To Be Cyco.  Through the years the lineup of the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES continues to evolve but one truth stands – There’s no SUI… without Loui!

After leaving SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, Mayorga bounced around Los Angeles working with Kidd Frost, Norwood Fisher (FISHBONE)Aaron McfaddenLily Hayden, toured as a stand in bass player for Cypress Hill, and founded the ska-punk-rasta-funk band HORNY Toad! which is best known for the modest hit SHIVER.

“While on the road with H.R. of BAD BRAINS, club promoters who remembered me from the 80s kept asking me where I’ve been and why I wasn’t touring with my own band and it suddenly hit me.  I co-wrote/wrote or composed some pretty big hits, it would be nice to play them live again,” adds Mayorga and upon returning to Los Angeles Mayorga formed LUICIDAL.

Teaming up with drummer R.J. Herrera (Suicidal Tendencies 1983 – 1990), Marty Ramirez (guitar) and singer Mando Ochoa (Sick Sense), the lineup was complete. A U.S., Canada and European tour followed and an album of original material debuted on DC JAM Records in 2014.  Current line-up features Vince Sollecito on drums.

“Getting back on the road and hearing the stories from fans about the SUICIDAL shows they went to as kids and then meeting their kids and the next generation of Punk Rockers wearing LUICIDAL and SUICIDAL t-shirts and hats is a real trip,” adds Mayorga he continues with “Who would’ve thought that the songs I co-wrote 35 years ago would still be relevant today.”

For their sophomore release, produced by Mayorga,  BORN IN VENICE (October 12th) on CLEOPATRA RECORDS, LUICIDAL is releasing 13 new tracks inspired by life in Venice, CA – BORN IN VENICE, politics – FUCK YOU, a pot head – PUNK CHIC, the early days of S.T. – S.T. POSSE, Loui leaving S.T. – ONE STEELE SOLDIER, death of a friend – Tears of a Psycho Clown, surfing – SURFIN TSUNAMI as well as INSTITUCIONALIZADO which Billboard Magazine proclaims to be an “Epic Spanish-Language Version of Suicidal Tendencies’ Institutionalized.

“When the idea of covering an ST song came up, the first singer I thought of was Ceci, and of course ‘Institutionalized’ was a sure thing.  I wanted to keep the same spirit of the song but with the point of view from a young Hispanic female and in Spanish” says Mayorga, who first saw Ceci Bastida perform with the Mexican punk band Tijuana No!  He adds “While in ST we always had a huge Latino fan base…the Latino punk rock scene has so much talent and if we can do our part in helping it grow, we will.”

CULTURAL WARFARE Premieres Video For Native American-Inspired ‘Eyes Of The Land’

With their recently released full-length debut “Warmageddon” turning (and banging) heads around the globe, the Oakland-based thrash quintet CULTURAL WARFARE has unveiled a music video for that album’s “Eyes Of The Land.” The clip, which premiered yesterday via Ghost Cult Magazine, captures the spirit of the song’s lyrics, which celebrate the Native American heritage of vocalist Jacques Serrano.

Check out the “Eyes Of The Land” video – directed by Mike Sloat (Testament, Machine Head) streaming below.

Says Serrano, “CULTURAL WARFARE are very proud to have created a song that represents Native Americans. The song captures their spirit and strength and puts them in a light that is positive. It was fun to tell a story about them and the video encapsulates the lyrics while showing the performance aspect of the band. The entire process from music to video was very rewarding to all of us.”

In the weeks leading up to the release of “Warmageddon,” which was praised by Metal Asylum as “dripping with snarl and attitude,” CULTURAL WARFARE released two other music videos – a lyric video for the album’s title track, and a clip for first single “Divided We Crawl.” Fans can expect to hear both of those songs live when the group hits the road this weekend for a series of shows with Exmortus and Hatchet. (See below for venue information.)

“Warmageddon” is the follow-up to the CULTURAL WARFARE’s 2017 debut EP “Future Kill,” hailed by Metal Wani as “neck-breaking thrash.” Recorded at California’s Trident Studios with producer Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Exodus) and mastered at Sweden’s Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren (Sepultura, Kreator), “Warmageddon” is a “look into the future” where a “new world chaos” reigns supreme, according to the band. The album’s artwork was designed by Brian Lewis (DevilDriver, Black Label Society).

Upon releasing “Future Kill” last year, the group performed throughout the Western United States alongside the likes of Warbringer, Apothesary, The Agonist, Hatriot and others. Whereas the EP found Kevin Doughty playing drums, “Warmageddon” sees him join Billy Garouette on guitar to make room for new percussionist Bones Padilla.

The Bay Area has a legacy for great music throughout the decades, and the influence of the region’s thrash metal bands on the international scene is unparalleled. With their unique combination of traditional metal and aggressive, melodic thrash, CULTURAL WARFARE furthers the area’s legacy and proves that thrash is undoubtedly alive and well.

9/30     Blue Lamp – Sacramento, CA w/ Exmortus, Hatchet

Artillery reveals details for new album, ‘The Face of Fear’

November 16th will see Artillery release their new album, The Face Of Fear – which is the successor to 2016’s Penalty By Perception. The Face Of Fear is the band’s 9th studio album, and the third with the current line-up. For a preview of the record, a video for the title track can be viewed now below.

The lyrics are Artillery as you know them, with subjects concerning the destruction of mankind, double standards, abuse and the looming worst-case scenarios. The Face Of Fear was recorded with long-time producer Soren Andersen at Medley Studios. It’s Soren’s fifth time at the helm, and once again he manages to deliver a monster production. Soren comments: “Pure and raw! Some of the material of this album was originally written in the early 80’s, and that inspired us to go old school this time. Not too many layers, just classic Artillery thrash metal…And Bastholm is better than ever on this one. This is a no-filler album, created together with the band. I’m really proud of the final result and I hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I do!”

Artillery comments about the video for “The Face Of Fear”: “Most of the scenes for the video were shot at Amager strand park right outside of Copenhagen. And the live scenes go back to when the band visited Japan and played at the Thrash Dominations together with Exodus, Voivod and Sanctuary. The video was shot by the band’s good friend Terkel Christensen, who also did the video ‘When The Magic is Gone’, from the last album, ‘Penalty By Perception‘. The song is about dealing the end of man by himself. We create our own phobia about the destruction of the world, but remain disrespectful to the globe.”

The Face Of Fear track-listing:
1. The Face of Fear
2. Crossroads To Conspiracy
3. New Rage
4. Sworn Utopia
5. Through The Ages Of Atrocity
6. Thirst For The Worst
7. Pain
8. Under Water (instumental)
9. Preaching to the converted
10. Mind Of No Return (ltd. 1st ed. bonus track / re-recorded song from Artillery‘s first demo from 1982)
11. Doctor Evil (ltd. 1st ed. bonus track / 2018 version)

Taiwanese Metallists’ CHTHONIC Reveal Acoustic Video For “Millenia’s Faith Undone”

Known for their ferocious performances, Taiwanese metal outfit CHTHONIC have expanded their sound with their previous acoustic releases, including 2014’s acoustic album, “Timeless Sentence”, and acoustic singles, “Defenders of Bú-Tik Palace” and “Kaoru”.

Following the release of the music video for their debut single, ” Millennia’s Faith Undone”, earlier this month, CHTHONIC have now shared the official music video of the Aeon’s Wraith version (acoustic version) of “Millennia’s Faith Undone”, featuring Denise Ho, on the evening of Mid-Autumn Festival.

WATCH “Millenia’s Faith Undone” (Aeon’s Wraith Version) Feat. Denise Ho now streaming below.

The original crew, including director, Birdy, lead actor and actress, Finn (黃士勛) and Chia-Yu Chang (王丁筑), together created the finale of the series of stories. Being executed during the White Terror, the protagonist dies without a place to rest in peace, either is his last will sent to his wife and children. Starting its first page from Kaoru (acoustic ver.), the story finally comes to a sorrowful end which is also a traumatic moment in Taiwanese history.

To faithfully present the period setting in the new album, Birdy had the production of the music video take place at the historical architecture Yilan Literature Museum. Set in the antique traditional Japanese style house, the music video gives CHTHONIC a delicate vibe different from their on-stage look; Denise Ho, who gladly agreed to be featured in CHTHONIC’s latest album, first time setting foot in Yilan Literature Museum, also didn’t hesitate to show her fondness of the location.

Usually, in the acoustic version of CHTHONIC music videos, the costume designing tend to be more “low key.” However, bassist Doris’ glacial style added a crucial touch that left all the crew impressed. Doris noted that she’s thankful for the hard work by the hair and makeup artists. Besides, compared to the past metal version music videos which require more dramatic expression and gesture than live performance, she prefers the shoot for the acoustic version as it allows more natural body movement of everyday life. Frontman Freddy stated that to prepare for the music video, he had to refresh his a bit rusty erhu playing. After a busy day in the parliament, he still had to practice at the late night. He also joked, “Luckily I’m not in the shot too much as I didn’t play it right in a couple spots”
