Concert Photo Review: DEEPFALL @ Regency Ballroom – San Francisco, California

Unfortunately due to heavy traffic going towards San Francisco and commitments earlier that day I arrived after doors had opened at the Regency ballroom in San Francisco. However I was lucky enough to get there in time to catch American rock band DEEPFALL (from Greenville, Michigan). They had just started rocking the stage and was performing their second song of the night, Monster from their 2019 album Broken. I really liked the setup of this song, specially the opening lyrics and chorus:

“This is what I’ve become, Always finding a way of messing things up.
At least that’s what I thought, Now I’m starting to see.
I was cutting my throat so I could not breathe, Now who’s changing.
Just look what I’ve become”

Then the chorus:

“It’s been a long time coming, Now it’s time to react
So much for the memories, Wish I could give them all back
And I gave all I had to give, Done all I can do.
Now this monster inside of me, It’s dedicated to you”.

DEEPFALL did a great Job taking the crowd into an emotional journey with songs that they could relate to, like the song “Cancer in Disguise”, it’s about being in a toxic relationship with someone that is like pure cancer to you. Another cool song was “Separate ways” (Journey cover), Tim King was superb on keyboards and harsh vocals that blended well with Rich Hopkins voice.

This was my first time seeing DEEPFALL live, I had heard these guys are good, but damn I didn’t know they was this good, specially live. I had such a great time photographing them, specially Max Carrillo (lead guitarist) that kept me on my toes while trying to take a shot of his awesome jump-spins while playing his guitar. The talented Nick Gray was killing it on drums the whole time and it looked like he was having a lot of fun. I really liked the sound DEEPFALL brought to the stage and at times I felt a bit of nostalgia like I was back in a show in the early 2000s. In short they put one hell of a performance, judging by how the crowd reacted towards them, you could have been fooled into thinking they was headlining.

DEEPFALL played mostly songs from their album Broken (out now)
