Vyces Interviewed In Sacramento, California

The Iron Serbian gets the goods on White Knuckle Riot and more juicy information from the boys in VYCES at the last stop of the Hellraiser tour in Sacramento, California via Capital Chaos TV

In the summer of 2014, frontman and guitarist, Dave Naruszewicz was looking to work on a new project following the disbandment of Chicago-based group, Heart-Set Self Destruct. After recording 2 full length records, releasing a single to active rock radio which charted at #1 on Music Choice Network, and years of touring North America with such bands as Volbeat, Hellyeah, and Filter it was time for change.
Looking to feed his passion as an artist, Dave spent time working with other musicians in the Chicago music scene but didn’t find what he was looking for. Not deterred, Dave reached out to longtime friend and fellow musician/drummer, Russell Ray. Russ (formerly of Old Fashioned Beatdown) also co-wrote and recorded drums for Wind-Up Records recording artist Megan McCauley.
Dave began flying to Los Angeles from Chicago twice a month, working with Russ to build something new, original and
undeniable. Russ then reached out to former bandmate and guitarist Shawn Patterson (formerly Old Fashioned Beatdown and Phantom Communique). The three began writing, recording, and sharing demos that would eventually become the foundation of VYCES. After a few trips to L.A., they entered the studio with producer Augustus Cryns (Stitched Up Heart, XO Stereo, The Dead Rabbits and Westfield Massacre). One year later, the band completed 14 songs that established the raw sound, power, and a vision that is VYCES. The band has been compared to such artists as Chevelle, Killswitch Engage and Breaking Benjamin, sonically creating a dark blend of active rock and metal. Dave describes the soul of the songs as “exploring the darker side of human emotion and behavior. It’s something everyone can relate to because everyone has experienced some form of hurt, betrayal, weakness, hate, addiction and/or lack of acceptance. It’s also the fuel that drives us to be stronger, get better and overcome the flaws we’ve built in our minds.”
The founding members of the band felt it was time to release their music and tour, so they began their hunt for members to fill out the line up and become part of the family. Evan Seidlitz, (former singer of Thrown Into Exile and Grimace), longtime friend of Dave and Russ, was asked to join the band. Evan toured on The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in 2013 with Thrown Into Exile, promoting their single, “Not Alone” which was featured on Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal. Evan also performed several guest spots with Grimace when they played the house band for Comedy Central’s Tosh.0. Evan, being a singer and frontman himself, brought a new dimension of aggressive and melodic vocals to round out the band’s live performance, as well as adding keys and synths to fill out the sound. The band soon began auditioning other musicians in search of a bass player. Evan brought in bassist Mark James Klepaski (formerly of Breaking Benjamin). Mark earned platinum and gold records for his work with Breaking Benjamin. Along with years of touring experience, Mark brought a unique and powerful style and tone that fit perfectly with the band’s vision. Mark re-tracked the bass lines on the record, helping mold the band’s rhythm section into what it is today. The band is currently preparing to release their self-titled EP and recently shot a music video for the upcoming single, “Devil” directed by Ron Underwood. “Devil” will be released this August 18th. Their 1st single “The Hive” is currently available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and all other media platforms. For more information please visit them website. vycesofficial.com

DEVILDRIVER released their long-awaited seventh studio album, Trust No One, in May 2016 via Napalm Records. The album is available for purchase now digitally via iTunes and Amazon, or in other formats via the Napalm Records Web Store and DevilDriver.com. This ballsy, brash and brutal burnt offering ignites the group’s fiercest ten salvos to date. Straight out of the gate, key tastemakers embraced the record with KERRANG! calling it, “A snorting, snarling heavy metal beast,” and Metal Hammer going as far as to say, Trust No One is a monstrous comeback that cackles with renewed verve, ideas and energy that’s the equal of the band’s finest achievements.”
Trust No One entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #43. The album followed 2013’s Winter Kills, which bowed at #32. To date, DEVILDRIVER has developed one of the most rabid fan bases in heavy metal, which has packed festivals and venues everywhere to witness their gospel of intensity.

Warbringer Unveil First Album Details Including Title, Album Artwork & Release Date!

WARBRINGER has continued to evolve throughout its four albums into the one of the most aurally devastating bands in the scene today. On March 31st they deliver their monumental 5th record entitled Woe to the Vanquished and make a triumphant step forward on this record–it’s an absolute must for ANYONE who’s into metal today.

WARBRINGER singer John Kevill describes the new album musically:
“For the music on this record we re-focused ourselves after a lot of the experiments on Empires Collapse, and decided we wanted to make a record that is start-to-finish more merciless, ruthless, and cruel, but also maintains some of the more melodic and progressive sense. What we ended up with is a record that has a lot of traits of classic thrash but also a lot of extreme metal, and a rather unique version of that blend. It’s overall faster and meaner than anything else we’ve put out, but also has our biggest and most ambitious song, the 11-minute “When the Guns Fell Silent” to close the record.”

Woe to the Vanquished has been carefully crafted over period of time, and the album was produced and mixed by Mike Plottnikoff (Fear Factory, In Flames), mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Pantera) with cover art by the esteemed Andreas Marschall (Sodom, Blind Guardian, Obituary).

Kevill explains the stunning album artwork, “It is directly based on a photograph from the end of the First World War–a grim monument, a pyramid of 12,000 German spiked helmets, right in the middle of New York City. What struck me about the image is firstly how morbid it seems to be celebrating 12,000 dead men and calling it victory.”

Kevill, who is studying to be a history professor, comments on the title, Woe to the Vanquished and the story behind it: “The title “Woe to the Vanquished” comes from early Roman history–before they were the huge empire they became. In 390 BC, a host of Gauls led by a warlord called Brennus attacked Rome, and captured all the city except the Capitoline Hill. From this hill the defeated Romans made a bargain, they would pay 1,000 pounds of gold for the Gallic army to leave the city with no further bloodshed. The Romans bring the gold before Brennus, who uses his own scales to measure it. On the Gaul’s scales, the Roman’s thousand pounds of gold measured to be less, which led the Romans to complain that the scale was rigged (it probably was). Responding to this, Brennus speaks “Vae Victis” (Woe to the Vanquished) and throws his sword on the counterweight. Because the Romans lost, they have to pay the rigged sum of gold as well as the weight of the sword, to add insult to injury. The irony here is that vowing this type of humiliation would never happen again, Rome went on to become an ancient war machine conquering and subjugating most of the old world. On the record “Woe to the Vanquished” is spoken in an ironic, mocking tone–the defeated are trampled and time marches on, uncaring, and forgets they ever existed.”

“One of the great things about heavy metal as a genre is you can express tougher subject material than “I met a (boy/girl) and it was (happy/sad)”. I looked for the most monolithic evil I could find to write about with this destructive, intense music… and I did not have to look any further than reality. Forget Satan, that’s a children’s story. Real evil is in the hearts of men.”

Hot on the heels for their album release, the band will be hitting the road all over Europe in Spring and Summer, including confirmed festivals like Spain’s Resurrection Fest, Slovenia’s Metal Days and Devilstone in Lithuania, with more to be announced.

Listen To Iron Reagan’s New Song, “Grim Business”

As they prepare for the release of their third full-length album Crossover Ministry. Iron Reagan have unveiled another song from the record; listen to “Grim Business”. One of Crossover Ministry’s 18 tracks, “Grim Business” thrashes and grooves in true Iron Reagan form.

Recorded by guitarist Phil “Landphil” Hall and mixed by Kurt Ballou, Crossover Ministry features 30 minutes of relentlessly catchy riffs and irresistibly mosh-ready breakdowns paired with lyrics that run the gamut from satirical to serious.  In the wake of one of the most controversial presidential elections in American history, Crossover Ministry couldn’t have come at a better time.

Iron Reagan will play two shows with Dag Nasty to close out 2016 and will be announcing 2017 tour dates soon.
