PRONG Ignite Sacramento In A Riff-Fueled Rampage At Ace Of Spades – Concert Review & Photos – May 20th, 2019

New York groove-metal veterans PRONG stormed into Sacramento’s Ace of Spades with a tight, no-nonsense set that reminded everyone why Tommy Victor’s riffs still hit like a wrecking ball. Opening with the chug-heavy “Unconditional” and “Lost and Found,” the band wasted no time locking into their signature industrial-thrash groove.

“Cut-Rate” and “Ultimate Authority” had the crowd’s heads snapping in unison, while the gritty “Broken Peace” brought out the band’s darker, more atmospheric edge. The energy never dipped, and by the time they tore into “Whose Fist Is This Anyway?” the pit was in full swing.

Of course, no PRONG show is complete without the anthem that started a thousand neck injuries — “Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck.” Delivered with raw precision and feral energy, it turned Ace of Spades into a communal explosion of fists and screams.

Short but brutal, PRONG’s set proved that even after decades in the game, Tommy Victor and company still play with the hunger and bite of a band out to prove something.

Verdict: A lean, mean, riff-driven assault — PRONG at their most primal and pure.
