Roseville Celebrates 25 Years of Fozzy
By Jennifer Black Glennon
The Nocturnal Affair’s alternative rock kicked off a special celebration at Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville and warmed up the night’s early arrivals. Liliac was up second and entertained the crowd with a beautiful vocal performance and youthful vibe. Excitement filled the air.
The people in this venue this Sunday night came out for a reason; it was a way to celebrate 25 years of Fozzy, 25 years of fans, and 25 years of having a fun time. I was looking forward to seeing them live again, and when Fozzy hit the stage, Chris Jericho and his mates brought more group energy than I have ever experienced during a rock show. What surprised me was that the energy level and band charisma never faded. I have not had that much fun photographing a show in years. At any time, regardless of which member I looked at, I was captivated. This group of musicians is so incredibly talented that it was tough to look away from any one band member. Whether it was the bassist and guitarists rotating across the stage with major presence, the drummer regularly twirling or tossing his sticks, or Chris singing like the consummate professional he is wearing a variety of eye-catching jackets, it was an audio and visual spectacle! My favorites were the black spiked jacket, the animal print jacket, and the one with “Judas” lyrics printed on it but I tried to be balanced and capture them all in my photo gallery.
The show was also truly inspiring. There was an overall theme of heartfelt gratitude expressed repeatedly to fans for their support between songs. Chris said the band realized their dreams because of fans like those in the crowd and that if they can do it, their fans can, too. So, he told us to “Just go fucking do it!” and go after our goals. Then, later in the set, he encouraged everyone by advising, “You have to believe in yourself.” These were great reminders from a great man with a great band to some pretty great fans.
As far as song choices go, they did an amazing job selecting a variety of songs to highlight over the course of the evening. They performed their recent single, “Fall in Line,” 2023’s “Spotlight,” plus 15 songs from six of their studio albums.
Through their set, every member gave 100%. They truly were having an amazing time, so how could we not? After 25 years, I can still confidently say, ”For a good time, call…” No, scratch that. It is 2025, and we do not call anymore. So, instead, for a good time, go online and buy tickets to a show on this Fozzy tour! You will be so glad you did.
