Headlining the chaos is the infamous FEAR, pioneers of the LA hardcore scene. Formed in 1977 and fronted by the indomitable Lee Ving, FEAR made their mark with blistering speed, biting satire, and fearless antagonism. Their landmark album “The Record” (1982) is widely considered one of the greatest punk albums of all time. Their legendary 1981 performance on Saturday Night Live—where a young slam-dancing Ian MacKaye and friends tore up the stage—cemented their reputation as one of the most confrontational and authentic bands in punk history. Still loud, still fast, still FEAR.
Sharing the bill is East Bay hardcore royalty: FANG.
Formed in Berkeley in the early 1980s, FANG was one of the first hardcore bands to emerge from the Bay Area punk scene. With frontman Sammytown leading the charge, the band quickly became known for their dark, sludgy take on hardcore, influencing countless bands to come—Nirvana even covered their song “The Money Will Roll Right In.” Their 1982 debut “Landshark” remains a raw and essential document of early West Coast punk. FANG represents the gritty DIY ethos of the East Bay, and they still bring a vicious, uncompromising edge to every live show.
