Alternative-metal-grunge-rock legends CKY just dropped their first new song in seven years — no teasers, no hype campaign, just pure surprise. The single, “Can’t Stop Running,” hit without warning, letting the music speak for itself.
“This song has been a favorite of ours since it was written and demoed,” says guitarist/vocalist Chad I. Ginsburg. “It’s got that perfect happy/sad feel — a real step forward in our writing. We’re proud of it, we’re playing it live, and we couldn’t give a shit if anyone doesn’t like it.”
The track showcases everything that’s made CKY tick since day one — defiance, grit, and hooks that hit hard. Ginsburg once again handled guitar, vocals, production, and engineering duties, while co-founder Jess Margera keeps the engine roaring behind the kit. Rounding out the lineup is new bassist Mike Leon (ex-Soulfly, Cavalera, Havok, Igorrr), locking in that trademark CKY groove.
With over 100 million Spotify plays and a recent jump to 825k monthly listeners, CKY’s comeback is already making noise. The band will hit the road again soon, with shows lined up across the UK, Ireland, and Australia.
Oh, and if you still remember shredding to “96 Quite Bitter Beings” on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 — yeah, that legacy continues. CKY never stopped running; they just took a long lap around the block.
