Tom Maxwell (born June 25, 1968 of super group Hellyeah shares his thoughts with former United States Army Sergeant Adam Kirk of Capital Chaos TV 02/08/15 @ Ace Of Spades – Sacramento, California

Tom Maxwell (born June 25, 1968) is a modern metal/rock guitarist in the bands Knives Out! and Hellyeah. Previous bands include Nothingface in which he was a founding member and main song-writer with Bill Gaal. After Nothingface he was involved in a band with Skrape vocalist Billy Keeton. In the 1980s he was in thrash metal band Have Mercy. His style of playing and writing relies more on grooves and hooks rather than shredding and fast soloing. Maxwell hails from Baltimore, Maryland, and got his first guitar, a 1969 Gibson Les Paul, when he was eight years old. According to Maxwell, he still owns it. He is currently endorsing on Dean Guitars website.

New Potential Threat SF Video Interview In Berkeley, California

Po 6

Mike Noble, Daniel Sheridan and Kenny Noble of Potential Threat SF share their thoughts with Todd Owens of Capital Chaos TV 10/25/14 @ 924 Gilman Street – Berkeley, California

San Francisco Bay Area thrash bands have long been known for their inyourface approach to music, and Potential Threat SF are no strangers to that tradition.

Originally formed as a fivepiece in 1986, they have shared the stage with everyone from Testament to Slayer to CroMags to Nuclear Assault, and just recently returned from touring with Death Angel.

Their hard working, no holds barred attitude carries over to their live shows. Though they put every ounce of grit and determination into their set, they still manage not to sound like angry old fucks. Their mentality is simple it’s just as easy for a band to get the audience involved in their show as it is to be pissed off and push them away. In short, they still have fun and show it on stage and to the fans, regardless of how long they’ve been playing or how many people are in the attendance.

Their newest offering, “Civilization Under Threat” (to be released by OSM Records), gives a nod to the old school by combining aggressive, commanding vocals with dual guitars and a thundering bottom end. Engineered and mastered by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Testament, Heathen) at Trident Studios has given the album a massively heavy quality without being overproduced.

Todd Smith and Brian White of Dog Fashion Disco share their thoughts with Amb Pirate of Capital Chaos TV 06/17/14 @ Assembly – Sacramento, California Dog Fashion Disco….audio and video courtesy of James Anderson

Dog Fashion Disco is an avant-garde metal band from Rockville, Maryland, that was active from 1995 to 2007 before disbanding. The band has officially reunited as of October 10, 2013.

Combining many different music styles (70’s psychedelic, jazz, piano recital, heavy metal, circus music and vocals, among others) Dog Fashion Disco was primarily considered an avant-garde metal band. The band’s lyrical content is often highly esoteric and satirical, with constant tongue-in-cheek references to the occult, drug use, and mutilation. A major influence on the band’s sound was the California genre-defying act, Mr. Bungle.

EXODUS Reveal Special Guests on New Album BLOOD IN, BLOOD OUT‏

17

Bay Area thrash metal provocateurs EXODUS proudly announce the special guests appearing on their latest showcase of unrefined rage Blood In, Blood Out, the band’s tenth studio album due out on October 14th in North America.

Crafting an industrial sound bed on the intro to the album opener “Black 13” is electronic music producer Dan the Automator (GORILLAZ, MIKE PATTON, DELTRON 3030).

“We ran into each other a couple times,” shares EXODUS guitarist & songwriter Gary Holt. “I knew what I wanted to hear and I knew he could do it, and could do it that day. So we sent him a file with the drums and guitars we already had there and just told him to go crazy with it.”

TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy lends his signature roar to the track “BTK,” one of the first songs recorded by returning vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza, who recently said, “Chuck and I have known each other forever. We work really well together, we know each other really well. So if I’m doing my vocals and he’s there, I can trust him to go ‘No way Zet, doesn’t sound good like that. Do it like this,’ or ‘Yeah that’s killer.’ If he says it sounds killer, I know it is.”

Original Exodus guitarist Kirk Hammett (METALLICA) contributed a solo to “Salt The Wound.”

This was actually the first time Kirk got to play on an official EXODUS release,” states Holt.  “He did the early demo, and then joined Metallica and didn’t do anything with us after that. So he was totally gung-ho about it. He came down and ripped out a bunch of takes and we picked the best one and then had a barbecue and drank beer.

“It felt really casual, really cool – just like it did back in 1980 when we were all just hanging out back in the day,” Hammett confessed to RollingStone.com in July.

Produced by Andy Sneap (ACCEPT, KREATOR, MEGADETH), Blood In Blood Out features cover illustration by Swedish artist Par Olofsson (PSYCROPTIC, ABYSMAL DAWN, REVOCATION).

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett jams with Death Angel @ Fear FestEvil

Lifelong horror enthusiast and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett joined Death Angel on stage last night (Saturday, February 8) at his first annual horror convention, dubbed Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEviL, at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California to perform the Black Sabbath classic “Heaven And Hell” and the Metallica song “Trapped Under Ice”. Video footage of the performance can be seen below (courtesy of Todd Owens).

Hammett’s relationship with Death Angel goes back more than two decades, when the Metallica guitarist produced Death Angel ‘s 1986 demo, “Kill As One”.

Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEvil kicked off on Thursday (February 6) and lasted through Saturday (February 8), and Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio what he envisioned for it. “I’ve gone to San Diego Comic-Con, and I was just struck by how all it really is is a bunch of stuff to look at and a bunch of stuff to buy,” he said. “What I wanted to do with my convention is I wanted it to be an experience, you know. I wanted it to be interactive, I wanted it to have ambiance and atmosphere, and I wanted it to be unique and thrilling, and that’s what we’re trying to do here.”

Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEviL included additional musical performances by Nuclear Blast artists Carcass, Exodus (featuring a guest appearance by Hammett) and Orchid.

Hammett was a member of Exodus ‘ original lineup before replacing Dave Mustaine in Metallica in 1983. In fact, Hammett was not only the person who came up with the Exodus name, but also the first from the band to meet original Exodus singer Paul Baloff and brought him into the group.
