Tombs signs worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Brooklyn-based experimental metal outfit Tombs! Blending bleak, post-punk minimalism with the ferocious attack of sludge and traditional black metal, Tombs has established themselves as an act that’s as committed to consistency as it is to growth, developing smoothly (but never predictably) over the course of their career, and earning a multitude of accolades along the way (including “album of the year” from Decibel Magazine for 2011’s Path Of Totality!). In addition to their acclaimed releases, Tombs has also become revered for their captivating live shows, touring extensively with an array of artists such as Eyehategod, Pelican, Isis, Wolves In The Throne Room, The Secret, Ulcerate, and 1349, plus appearing at renowned festivals: Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Roadburn in The Netherlands, and Psycho California and Maryland Deathfest in the USA. Now, having joined Metal Blade’s roster, the quintet is poised to continue the momentum that’s been building since their formation in 2007.

Mike Hill (guitar/vocals) comments: “Metal Blade is a legendary label that has put out legendary records by legendary bands. It’s an honor to be part of the organization.”

Tombs will begin writing their fourth full-length and Metal Blade Records debut after their USA headlining tour this fall. Kicking off November 7th, the trek also features Wolvhammer as support. See below for all upcoming dates!

New Abnormaility Full Album Stream

Formed in 2005, Abnormality drew its members from the ranks of units such as Teratism, Forced Asphyxiation, Goratory and Sexcrement, and they have worked patiently and persistently to build up a grassroots following, maintaining their integrity while steadily expanding beyond their local scene.

Massachusetts-based extreme metal outfit Abnormality will be releasing their upcoming sophomore full-length, Mechanisms of Omniscience, on April 29th worldwide via Metal Blade Records! Marrying the ceaseless brutality coming out of New York and New England to the hyper-blasting intensity endemic to Quebecois death metal, Mechanisms of Omniscience is as unrelenting as it is passionate, and the album tackles real world issues with intelligence and raw emotion.

In 2010, they dropped their debut EP, The Collective Calm In Mortal Oblivion, which immediately drew attention in the underground, followed by the crushing and critically acclaimed full-length, Contaminating The Hive Mind (2012), cementing their status as one of the heaviest and most dynamic bands in the genre. Now, with their upcoming sophomore effort,Mechanisms of Omniscience – produced once again by Peter Rutcho, and featuring artwork by vocalist Mallika Sundaramurthy – the quintet have never been more serious about getting their message out there, as well as ensuring legions of the moshing masses incur whiplash. The Great Discord premieres drum play-through for “L’homme Mauvais”

Transcending genre labels and lazy classification, The Great Discord is a musical enigma. Their layered, textured music is inspired by the likes of Genesis, King Crimson, Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan – but at the same time, individually they look up to an array of musicians beyond the confines of progressive music.

Having released two critically acclaimed albums this year (debut full-length, Duende, and EP,Echoes), Sweden’s The Great Discord is now launching a drum play-through for the track “L’homme Mauvais“, taken from Duende. To watch Aksel Holmgren’s performance of this progressive, technical masterpiece.

Described as “djent, thrash, doom, prog and black metal all rolled into one” (SkullsNBones.com), the quintet have left both media and fans awestruck at the talent and originality found on their two releases: Duende and Echoes.Duende, being The Great Discord’s debut full-length, captivated listeners, with media boldly proclaiming it as a new “standard for progressive metal” (DeadRhetoric.com); the recently released Echoes EP expanded on their sound even further, with the band putting their spin on classics by The Mars Volta and The Deftones.

Act Of Defiance Winter Tour Includes Stops In Sacramento, Fresno and More

With a hefty resumé that chronicles time spent riffing and shredding in Jag Panzer, Nevermore, and a seven-year stint in Megadeth, his pedigree speaks for itself. Furthermore, joined by powerhouse drummer – and fellow Megadeth alumnus – Shawn Drover, bassist Matt Bachand (Shadows Fall/Times Of Grace) and vocalist Henry Derek (Scar The Martyr) the band are a truly formidable metallic behemoth, and their debut album, Birth And The Burial, is ten tracks of armor-plated, state of the art heaviness.

Rivers of Nihil launch live video for “Sand Baptism”‏

rivers of

Currently on the road with Hate Eternal, Misery Index and Beyond Creation, Rivers of Nihil have launched a live video for the track “Sand Baptism”, taken from their new album, Monarchy.

Monarchy continues the seasonal concept that began with spring on Rivers of Nihil’s debut album, The Conscious Seed of Light – this time, welcoming the oppressive summer heat. The story takes place millions of years after the events in The Conscious Seed of Light. Adam Biggs, who also serves as the band’s primary lyricist, explains:“The Earth has been transformed into a vast desert wasteland, where after aeons of lifelessness, new beings begin to take shape and begin their journey as shepherds of the planet. But after a while, a class system forms from a sun-worshiping religious dictatorship, and these beings start to lose their way. Only the guidance of an ancient earthly force can help them save themselves as well the planet.”
