Obituary Announce North American Headline Tour with Pallbearer

Death metal legends OBITUARY have announced an early Summer North American headline tour with support from Pallbearer, Skeletonwitch and Dust Bolt. The tour begins May 2nd in Atlanta, GA and ends June 3rd in Miami, FL. A full list of confirmed tour dates is available below.

OBITUARY comments on the tour:

“We are stoked about our North American tour and super excited to be back at the headlining spot. We have been very fortunate to be a part of some killer tours for our last few US/Canada runs as support to Carcass, Cannibal Corpse and Kreator but that came with limits on time and production value. Now it’s time to bust out the Big Guns, dig deep into our musical pockets and pull out some oldies but goodies!!

With 10 studio albums and over 100 songs in our catalog these days, it’s never easy choosing a set list and always causes some serious discussions and arguments amongst the band members so we are turning to the fans on this one. We want to hear from YOU what songs we should play and since everyone has their favorites we are really looking forward to hearing what you guys think. This should be fun, entertaining and interesting so make sure to comment on our social media pages with your top picks……Ready. Set. GO!!!!!!!!”

Interview with Donald Tardy of Obituary

In our recent interview with OBITUARY drummer Donald Tardy, he commented on the band’s original record label, Roadrunner Records, which released six studio albums by the group between 1989 and 2005. “It’s a subject that none of the band members really like talking about,” Tardy said. “We signed to Roadrunner a long time ago at a very early age, and they know that we signed the worst contracts on the planet, so we have no rights to any of those albums. We don’t have any say-so. I don’t think they’re even being printed anymore — like, a young metalhead, I don’t think can even find it in the store, a real copy of it. We went to Roadrunner and said, ‘Can’t we just simply negotiate and figure out — can’t I get my albums back to the band?’ They wanted no part of even the discussion. Sadly, OBITUARY has no power of what happens with those early albums.”

He continued: “We were very young, just like a lot of bands. We’re not the only ones on Roadrunner that say the same exact thing. It’s sad that we got talked into horrible deals, and we signed our lives away, but when you’re a sixteen-year-old kid and you’re looking at a multi-album contract, you’re just like, ‘That’s amazing — I’m going to be in a band!’ Little did we know, thirty years later, we still can’t get the rights back to it. Roadrunner owns it forever.”
