Sludge Trio NORTH Announce North American Tour with ROSETTA

Fresh off the release of their latest live album, Transmissions: Live In Bucharest, which hit retailers in March via Prosthetic Records – Arizona-based epic sludge trio NORTH is pleased to announce their upcoming North American tour, directly supporting Rosetta. The tour will begin on October 5 in Scottsdale, AZ and visit several cities, coming to a close back in the band’s hometown of Tucson on October 30.
More dates are to be announced soon. Tickets are available via individual venues.
The band states: NORTH is thrilled to be back on the road with our friends Rosetta, a band that not only do we enjoy immensely on a musical level, but who are also some of our very best friends in the world. There isn’t another band out there that we would rather be on tour with. They first reached out their arms to us back in 2008 for our first trip to the east coast, and again last summer for our six-week European tour together. To say we’ve all seen some shit is an understatement. The folks in Rosetta are a class act and not to mention one of the heaviest bands in the world. They haven’t been to the west coast in seven years and we’re honored to be accompanying them on their return to our side of the country.”

Hour Of Penance Announce New Album Due January 2017

Like clockwork, Italian death metallists’ Hour Of Penance are ready to release their seventh full length album, “Cast the First Stone”, through Prosthetic Records on January 27, 2017. The follow-up to 2014’s critically acclaimed effort “Regicide”, “Cast the First Stone” was recorded at Kick Recording Studio by bassist, Marco Mastrobuono. Hailed as “an authoritative force in extreme death metal” by Metal Sucks, Hour Of Penance is one of the most productive bands in the metal genre, releasing a album every two years. Artwork for the album, as seen above, was completed by Gyula Havancsak.

Giulio Moschini, lead guitarist and songwriter goes into more detail on the album, “Sonically speaking , this is the best sounding album we’ve ever recorded. We really worked hard on this, listening to the album countless times before finally delivering the masters to Prosthetic Records. It was definitely worth the wait and we’re 100% satisfied by the great work Marco has done behind the mixing desk. We’ve literally spent weeks trying different mic techniques, hardware and preamps;  all trying to avoid plug-in technologies as much as we could. We wanted our album to sound more dynamic and I think that we’ve achieved that 100%.

Regarding the concept of the album, vocalist Paolo Pieri says it revolves around the idea that the injustices suffered during the Crusades and Colonialism do not justify the chain of hate that propagandizes the destruction of the West. Pieri expands on this, “I believe that the political situation in recent years has brought to light again a millennial conflict between West and East. Events like the terrorist attack at the Bataclan, where we only played a few months before the massacre, have influenced the lyrics on this record very much. It does not matter who has thrown the first stone, but who first evolved his ideology to seek peace and coexistence instead of war to the bitter end.”
The official track listing is as follows:
1.       XXI Century Imperial Crusade
2.       Cast the First Stone
3.       Burning Bright
4.       Iron Fist
5.       The Chains of Misdeed
6.       Horn of Flies
7.       Shroud of Ashes
8.       Wall of Cohorts
9.       Damnatio Memoriae

Since releasing 2012’s acclaimed “Sedition”, which Decibel lauded as a “hyper-blasting, inhuman, machine-like attack,” HOUR OF PENANCE has annihilated fans worldwide with its fiery exuberance, playing well over 200 gigs alongside such acts as Behemoth, Skeletonwitch, Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Devildriver, Psycroptic, Misery Index, Deicide, Belphegor, Nile and Krisiun.

James Paul Luna of Holy Grail Interviewed in San Francisco, California

James Paul Luna of Holy Grail Interviewed in San Francisco, California while on tour with Spellcaster and Exmortus at DNA Lounge.

Like many of the legendary bands whose influences they wear on their tattered sleeves, the Los Angeles quintet HOLY GRAIL made an immediate impact when they exploded onto the metal scene in 2009. Here were five immortal men who fought to kill, armed with an infectious sound – a mix of classic heavy metal and modern sensibilities – sure to win over even the most jaded of cynics. As if on cue, metal media around the world swooned immediately. Metal Hammer UK nominated HOLY GRAIL for their “best new band” Golden Gods Award based solely on the two original tracks that appeared on their debut EP “Improper Burial”, while the group was invited to perform at major worldwide events such as the Wacken:Open:Air (Germany) and Download Festival (UK) before their full-length debut was even finished being recorded. When their full-length debut “Crisis In Utopia” was finally released in late 2010, it was clear from the opening notes on that HOLY GRAIL’s music is their silver bullet. The album reasserted the group’s potential and earned the band a new round of critical acclaim, with Revolver Magazine naming the release one of 2010′s Top 20 albums. Hereafter, the group hit the road for a nearly two-year touring cycle during which guitarist Alex Lee (ex-BONDED BY BLOOD) joined the fold and the band performed alongside the likes of BLIND GUARDIAN, ELUVEITIE and DRAGONFORCE, among others. In addition, they further developed a burgeoning international fan base by touring Japan, Australia and the UK.
