This year’s gathering features a cosplay contest and make-up competition in addition to signings and photo-ops with some of the most recognizable names in the business. Some of the celebrity names include Billy Zane (Titanic, Demon Knight), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Herb Duncanson (Thirteen Ghosts), Dina Meyer (Saw II), Casper Van Dien (Sleepy Hollow), and Max LaFerriere (Scream).

For those who’ve never been to the sinister soiree, expect painters, filmmakers, sculptors, tattoo artists, comic book artists, graphic designers, FX companies, actors, writers, haunted attraction engineers, and much more in attendance.

Said the folks at Love Horror Presents, “Sinister Halloween Con is a horror convention unlike any other. We celebrate both the past and present. From the nostalgic to the contemporary we celebrate it all and have something for every horror artist/fan alike. Above all we strive to serve and promote the art and artists. Come be inspired, create, and scare us.”

Additionally, there will be many vendors sharing and selling their wares including (but not limited to) clothing, video, art, jewelry, music, and myriad costume designs and props for sale. Tickets can be purchased at https://lovehorrorevents.ticketspice.com/sinister-halloween-con-2023. Weekend passes start at $50 and there are single day options as well. Saturday is only $40 while Sunday’s festivities are only $35. General admission hours for Saturday are from 1 to 7pm while Sunday’s fun kicks off at 12:30pm and ends promptly at 5:30pm. Kids 12 and under are free with paid adults. VIP options are also available. The Scottish Rite Center is located at 6151 H Street in Sacramento near Sacramento State University. Parking is free but very limited in the immediate area.
