Memphis May Fire Brings Shapeshifter to Roseville
By Jennifer Black Glennon
Last Thursday night, Memphis May Fire toured through Roseville, California on “The Shapeshifter Tour” just over a week in. The band is touring to support their 8th studio album, Shapeshifter, released in March 2024, through their longtime label, Rise Records.
The first of four bands on the tour package, Elijah, brought great energy and beautiful sound to the early, packed crowd. Next up was Wind Walkers, who just signed to Fearless Records, and recently released their debut single “The End Aesthetic.” Main support act, British band Caskets, had a huge following that was one of many highlights of the evening. Caskets had everyone singing, just as they did when I saw them in the same venue in 2023 supporting Blessthefall. The whole night was filled with talented musicians who each craft their own unique metal sounds.
The whole night led up to an incredible 16-song inspired, melodic, and heavy set by Memphis May Fire that included seven of the ten songs off Shapeshifter, five from Made in Misery, two from The Hollow, and two from Challenger. Unfortunately, this tour concludes at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona in May but if you cannot catch one of the many sold-out shows, Memphis May Fire will return to California’s Capital Region in October for Aftershock Festival 2025 and I guarantee that I will be there to see and hear them again!
