A rainy evening in May at the King of Clubs in Columbus Ohio was the perfect setting for Infected Rain and it’s powerful performance that was witnessed by a most satisfied crowd of roughly 500 fans.
Starting off with a video to set the stage for their Mutation Phase tour the band opened with the powerful The Answer is You , a track off of their last release Time. The crowd was instantly held in the palm of Lena Scissorhands . The tiny Moldovan singer commands the stage like an elegant biohazard promising the nuclear winter of your dreams. Her growls are rivaled by none and her clean vocals are very passionate and filled with emotion. It’s something to witness her to command a crowd to sit down and they follow her command instantly. Vidick, the guitar player and one of the founding members is constantly in motion like a juggernaut crushing all that is in his path. The rhythm section is strong and holds the drive and power of their music.
Alice Lane is quite a talented bass player holding her own on each song. Eugene Voluta pounds his drum kit in an almost abusive manner. The new track Strager was well received . Ending the evening with another command from Lena for the crowd to part like the Red Sea and slam into each other as they performed Judgemental Trap from 2009 Judgement Trap EP , where this all started from. This was my first time watching this band perform at a venue they are truly deserving of performing in was a treat. Well worth the drive and time to witness this entertaining and visually appealing powerhouse of a band with dare I say the most entertaining frontwoman in the Metal arena. Go see them, they are fantastic live.
