Cowtown Thrash Bash – Concert Review & Photos

Photos and review by Christopher Crone

The Theatre DeVille turned into a full scale NorCal battleground for Cowtown Thrash Bash, five bands, all local, all loud, all ready to tear the floor apart. The room filled early, the energy stayed high, and every band came in swinging.

24 Gore opened the night with Stockton’s signature brand of raw, blood soaked heaviness. Fast, abrasive, and completely unfiltered, they set the tone immediately. Their set felt like a chainsaw revving at full throttle, loud, close, and dangerous, exactly the kind of opener a thrash bash deserves.

Eternal Terror followed with a crushing wave of Roseville OSDM, thick riffs, deep growls, and that classic stomp that hits like a steel toe to the chest.

A key part of their sound comes from rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Bryant Weidkamp Cobb, a familiar face in the NorCal scene. He has played in several local bands over the years, and that experience shows in the way he commands the stage and locks the band into that old school death metal groove.

By the end of their set, the pit was fully awake and the room had shifted into full engagement mode.

Acid Thrower stormed the stage next with their self described mix of hardcore, punk, old school thrash, and metal, and honestly, that description still undersells how chaotic and explosive they are live.

Their bass player Bobby Real deserves special mention. Not only is he a tattoo artist, he also plays with SADUS, Deconstruct, and Union Jack & The Rippers, and that pedigree shows. His tone, presence, and attack elevated the entire set.

Acid Thrower turned the room into a pressure cooker, nonstop movement, nonstop noise, and the kind of energy spike that only a band with that much crossover DNA can deliver.

Parabellum

Parabellum needs no introduction in NorCal. They walked onstage like a band with something to prove and played like a band that already proved it years ago. Precision, fire, and a crowd response that made the room feel too small for them.

They delivered a headliner level set even without the headliner slot, pits widening, fists up, the whole room locked in.

Aggravated Assault

Aggravated_Assault closed the night with Fairfield’s brand of fast, sharp, pit friendly thrash. They hit the stage like they were trying to out blast every band before them, and they came damn close.

Riffs flying, drums firing like a machine gun, vocals ripping through the room, they kept the energy spiked until the final note and sealed the night with authority.

Final Thoughts

Cowtown Thrash Bash delivered exactly what it promised, a loud, sweaty, chaotic celebration of NorCal heavy music. 24 Gore lit the fuse, Eternal Terror brought the weight, Acid Thrower detonated the room, Parabellum raised the bar, and Aggravated Assault slammed it shut.
