Former Amon Amarth Members Unleash New FIMBUL WINTER Anthem With The Crown’s Johan Lindstrand

Swedish melodic death metal outfit Fimbul Winter continue to build momentum with the release of their crushing new single, “When The Sun Comes Out At Night,” featuring guest vocals from Johan Lindstrand of The Crown. Formed by three former members of Amon Amarth, the band continues to honor the classic Gothenburg-inspired sound while pushing it into a darker, more modern direction. Following the success of their debut EP What Once Was and previous single “Crowned In Ash,” Fimbul Winter proves they’re more than just a reunion project—they’re carving out a formidable identity of their own.

“When The Sun Comes Out At Night” is a relentless barrage of razor-sharp riffs, thunderous drumming, and soaring melodic passages. Frontman Clint Williams delivers a fierce vocal performance that perfectly complements Johan Lindstrand’s unmistakable growls, creating an intense collaboration that will satisfy fans of classic and modern melodic death metal alike.

The song was recorded with guitars and drums at Studio Fluff Västerås with engineer Andreas Morén, while vocals were tracked at Witching Hour Audio by Shaun Farrugia. Bass duties were handled by Risa Andersson, with mixing and mastering completed by Marko Tervonen at Studio-MT. The striking cover artwork was created by Katarzyna Urbanek.

Fimbul Winter was formed in 2023 by former Amon Amarth members, including founding members Niko Kaukinen and Anders Biazzi, alongside vocalist Clint Williams. Based between Stockholm, Sweden, and Melbourne, Australia, the band was born after a reunion performance celebrating Amon Amarth’s 1994 demo, The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter.

That performance rekindled the chemistry between the musicians and inspired them to create fresh material rooted in the sound they helped pioneer—classic Swedish melodic death metal delivered with modern production while maintaining its raw intensity.

Their debut EP, What Once Was, arrived in 2025 and established the band’s mission: preserve the genre’s legacy while expanding its creative boundaries.

Lyrically, “When The Sun Comes Out At Night” explores the psychological unraveling that comes with seeing reality too clearly. As certainty dissolves and uncomfortable truths emerge, the song captures the confusion, instability, and emotional weight of awakening to a new perspective.

The combination of blistering speed, crushing heaviness, haunting melodies, and atmospheric depth makes the track both emotionally gripping and sonically devastating.

With “Crowned In Ash” and now “When The Sun Comes Out At Night,” Fimbul Winter continues to prove that its members aren’t simply revisiting the past—they’re building upon it. Drawing from decades of experience in Swedish death metal while embracing a fresh creative vision, the band delivers music that feels both timeless and revitalized.

For fans of melodic death metal, Fimbul Winter is quickly becoming one of the genre’s most exciting new names, blending veteran musicianship with renewed passion and undeniable firepower.
