Progressive Tech Death Collective Arkaik To Release Nemethia

Progressive tech death collective Arkaik will unleash the anticipated Nemethia, this fall via Unique Leader Records. A continuation on the conceptual saga of the two previous releases, on Nemethiathe journey of Cyrix expands into new landscapes, as does the band’s technical prowess and creativity.
Their fourth full length for Unique Leader and most ambitious studio album to date was produced, engineered, and mixed by Zack Ohren (Immolation, Fallujah, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth et al.) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California, and features guest appearances by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, Arde Ostowari formerly of Burning The Masses, Stephen Paulson of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and former Arkaik guitarist Craig Peters, as well as Gabe Seeber from The Kennedy Veil and Decrepit Birth (live) performing drums for the entire album. The cover art and booklet was designed by visionary artist Tyler Space, who worked with the band on their previous release, Lucid Dawn.
Arkaik has been hard at work creating a series of wildly psychedelic concept albums revolving around a protagonist named Cyrix, a disillusioned character in a dystopian society. Cyrix’ latest journey introduces new characters and brings you into a world of dark occultists, magical allies, and hidden forces. From resurrecting ancient goddesses to cracking the codes of reality and activating hyper dimensional stargates, the chronicle of Cyrix continues.
Said founding vocalist Jared Christianson of the record’s concept, “This album fully sets the stage and builds on the story we started developing two albums ago with Cyrix and Metamorphignition. We’ve begun weaving together our own mythos of synchronicity and symbolism to encapsulate and distill the journey of the alchemist through the gnostic dream. It attempts to reveal through storytelling and allegory that we can experience real freedom and discover the inner treasures that guide us to who, what, and where we want to be, if we are willing to pull back the veil of lies blinding us from the truth of our nature. If I could sum up everything we’ve done so far, my personal journey and our message as a band in three words it would be the lyric ‘pain to power’ from the song ‘Telegnosis.’ To me, it’s about transmuting your struggles into strengths and refining your personal power and will. I really enjoyed making this album and hope people dig it!”
Adds guitarist Greg Paulson of the sound and songwriting process, “This is the most involved I’ve been on an Arkaik record so far. The songs are more thought out and meticulously crafted. I wanted to retain the sonic brutality Arkaik is known for, while introducing new elements to further expand on the band’s sound. I incorporated greater symphonic instrumentation throughout the record and utilized my classical background to add more depth and dynamics to the arrangements. The album is overall more complex, I even added some harmonized vocals to blend with Jared’s voice, making for some interesting layered textures. This is sure to be the most unique Arkaik album to date. I’m really proud of what we created and hope people enjoy it.”
Nemethia will see release on CD and digital formats on September 29th via Unique Leader Records. Preorder bundles will be available in the coming weeks.
In advance of the record’s release, Arkaik will kick off a US headlining tour on September 8th. The Occultivating The Masses tour will run through October 7th and features support from Alterbeast and Inanimate Existence. See all confirmed dates below.

First Fragment to release their long-anticipated debut full-length, Dasein, on May 20th via Unique Leader Records.

Dasein should satisfy most people into the newer wave of extreme technical metal, but the exaggerated amount neoclassical metal/flamenco influences and non-stop guitar/bass soloing alone should please power metal fans as well.”

FirstFragment_1500

Canadian neoclassical-influenced tech death unit, FIRST FRAGMENT, will release their long-anticipated debut full-length, Dasein, on May 20th via Unique Leader Records.

Captured at Humanoise Studios with Mathieu Marcotte (Augury, Humanoid) and mixed by Hugues Deslauriers (Augury, Defilementory, Vengeful etc.), the eleven track long player features guest appearances from current and former members of Spawn Of Possession, Obscura, Inferi, Augury, and Elderoth, artwork by Sam Nelson (Incandescence, Wayfarer, Stoic Dissention) and boasts a fierce mix of over-the-top drum tirades, complex neoclassical-influenced guitar work, endless solos, Flamenco and clean guitar passages, proggy death metal bass work and a highly varied dual vocal approach.

Relays FIRST FRAGENT guitarist/vocalist Phil Tougas of Dasein: “While a lot of the material on this record dates back to between six and eleven years, it is still very fresh sounding. It’s an unrelenting and over-the-top album, yet at the same time most of it remains catchy enough to stick in your head. Dasein should satisfy most people into the newer wave of extreme technical metal, but the exaggerated amount neoclassical metal/flamenco influences and non-stop guitar/bass soloing alone should please power metal fans as well.”

Spawned in 2007 as a bedroom side-project by rhythm guitarist Gabriel Brault-Pilon, vocalist/lead guitarist Philippe Tougas and lead vocalist David Alexandre Brault-Pilon, the Québécois trio evolved into a full-fledged band with the sole intention of creating the catchiest, most aggressive and multifarious music possible. Influenced by only the sickest modern extreme metal bands (Spawn Of Possession, Gorod, Martyr, Capharnaum, Origin, Necrophagist etc.), ‘90s progressive death (Theory In Practice, Crypt Of Kerberos, Atheist, Cynic), Flamenco music and ‘80s neoclassical/power metal (Tony MacAlpine, Joey Tafolla, Racer X, Helstar, Yngwie Malmsteen) and being the only band from their country and in their subgenre to proudly sing solely in French, their diverse sound would quickly prove to be a force with which to be reckoned.

Following numerous demo recordings in 2008 and 2009, FIRST FRAGMENT self-released their highly-praised debut EP, The Afterthought Ecstasy, in 2010 and later recruited bassist Vincent Savary and drummer Philippe Boucher. The band played frequent shows throughout 2011 and 2012 and began putting the finishing touches on the material that would make its way on to their debut full-length. Soon after entering Humanoise Studios with Mathieu Marcotte at the control desk however, Boucher fled the band. Not to be deterred, the remaining FIRST FRAGMENT members joined proverbial forces with session drummer Troy Fullert on of Severed Savior for the completion of the album.

The Zenith Passage & Fallujah Fillet The Bay

Fallujah was founded in early 2007 by high school friends Alex Hofmann, Scott Carstairs, Tommy Logan, Dan Wissinger, and Suliman Arghandiwal. Their first show was on June 15, 2007 in Walnut Creek, California. Their first four songs released were “Tyrant”, “Verdict”, “Schleicher” and “Infidel” as demos.

The Zenith Passage perform their smash hits @ Bay Area Death Fest 2 – Oakland, California

It was in early 2012 that a small recording collaboration between two friends (Justin McKinney and Greg Hampton) began to coalesce into something that would prove to be well more than the sum of its parts. The Zenith Passage may have come about from humble beginnings in a stuffy Los Angeles apartment, but the produce thereof is anything BUT humble. Even the earliest demo tracks delivered a relentless torrent of technical guitar work accompanied by a distinctly frenetic and brutal vocal delivery that has since become an unmistakable hallmark in a scene that is all too often the victim of stagnation.

With the onset of all these new developments, and the lineup nearing completion, it seemed only natural to take the next step and join the ranks of those by whom they had been so heavily influenced. Thus, in the summer of 2013, TZP had the honor of signing on with Unique Leader Records for a multi-album deal. The stage is currently set for TZP to secure their foothold in topmost reaches of the metal pantheon, and they are hard at work churning out new content for their debut full-length. Rest assured, this marks only the beginning. The world has only just set foot onto the passage towards the pinnacle, the apex, the Xenith. BLEGH.

Their first show was on June 15, 2007 in Walnut Creek, California. Their first four songs released were “Tyrant”, “Verdict”, “Schleicher” and “Infidel” as demos. The bands sound and inception was heavily influenced by the Bay Area hardcore scene; often playing with bands such as Lionheart, Hoods, Suffokate, and Lose None.

Later that year, bassist Dan Wissinger and Drummer Tommy Logan departed. Brandon “Brando” Hoberg from the band Vivisection joined on bass and friend Andrew Baird joined on drums. In winter of 2007, Fallujah recorded their 2nd demo at TWS studios in Vacaville, California. The songs “Prophets”, “Blacklist”, and “100 Years From Now” were on this demo. They were released in January 2008.
