In the beginning, there was only SLAYER. Over the years, the caustic sounds of this legendary, god-like American thrash quartet began to take root worldwide. Those roots spread like wildfire, eventually worming their way into the permafrost of Scandinavia. With roots firmly planted, Swedish thrash was born – the seeds of which were first planted by the erosive, acerbic bite of THE HAUNTED.

Like The Haunted before them, Sweden’s DEFIATORY molded the already well-established sounds of the sub-genre into something wholly their own. This was witnessed on their debut album, Extinct – an album that showcased the band’s raw and uncompromising thrash attack.

The guys are back with their Black Lion Records-released sophomore effort, Hades Rising. This time around, DEFIATORY have planted further seeds in the grim, frostbitten soil of their northern homeland, sprouting sounds that are far more rhythmic and melodic – an important mainstay from the early days of thrash.
