It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jill Janus, frontwoman for the California heavy metal band Huntress. Jill died by suicide on Tuesday, August 14, outside of Portland, Oregon, after a long and courageous battle with mental illness.
Throughout her life, Jill was open about her struggles, speaking candidly in hopes of encouraging others to seek help and find strength in their own mental health journeys.
Jill was a uniquely talented and passionate creative. In addition to her work with Huntress, she was the lead vocalist for female-fronted metal and hard rock cover bands The Starbreakers and Chelsea Girls. She was also co-creator and composer of an upcoming rock opera in collaboration with Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Angus Clark. Her artistic path began in childhood and included a decade-long career as NYC DJ Penelope Tuesdae.
Beyond her artistic achievements, Jill was a fierce advocate for mental health awareness and a loving soul deeply devoted to her family, animal rescue efforts, and natural medicine. Her light, love, and power will be profoundly missed—more than she could have ever known.

that “almost” happened to me in 1988.I lived with a psycho stripper (her mom worked for the mental health dept. IN Portland,oregon?she would bring her some bottles of pills? Could’ve been “desoxyn?”IDK>) IDK what it was for 3 months at 18 yrs.(NEver EvEr again’e never EvR!!)she was into stupid “egyptian(girl stupid books?Wtf?) she always had razor blades?So what happened is..me & my friend went on a fry trip on goonie bird’e.we came home after frying all night?she was trying to sleep after a night of dancing(pmsX1000) So my friend went home & i started going on a bad trip because of her negativity?so i left & walked up burnside from NW?towards the mountain…dumb enough (because she didn’t know i was on acid? while she started yelling at us for making noise?) so dumblie enough i slit my arm from wrist inside up towards my elbow (luckilie it fk’n hurt & veered to my elbow bone.luckille i made it to a house & someone gave me a warm wet towel & called an ambulance.I had to go to the hospital (ended up getting stitched 1 foot)..I came home & she thought i was kidding??then i moved out & went to go live in vancouver,wa with my friend & worked at the columbian newspaper(ask my stupour-visior She remembers i saw her in 2008 to say hello.) So that is never a good idea (it’s all her fault for being a liar & a bitch’e?wtf?..,) Oh well now i’m healthier than anyone at 48? haha i exercise & stay away from the toxic zombies/pillheads/walmart foo??Idk>>>>>>>>>at least a happier ending thanks to me being smarter than the average dufu’ses.,.,.,.,`~;~”:..,.,`
