Art of Shock: Staying Positive, Creating New Music, and Looking Ahead

As 2025 rolls on, many of us are reflecting on the challenges and changes that have come with the global pandemic. For Art Geezar, bassist of Art of Shock, it’s been a time to reflect, recharge, and get creative. Despite the unusual circumstances, the band has been hard at work, creating new material and staying connected with their fans. Recently, Art took the time to chat with Capital Chaos TV about the band’s new single, their journey with Century Media, and their outlook for the future.

The Latest Release: A King Diamond Cover

For those wondering what’s next for Art of Shock, the band recently released a fun King Diamond cover—“No Presents for Christmas.” Art shared that it was something they had always wanted to do, and with the downtime this year, they finally had the chance to record it. “It’s a really fun song,” he said. “We’ve always wanted to cover it, and we had the time to do it this year.”

This track actually comes from the Dark Angeles recording sessions. Originally intended for another project that didn’t come to fruition, the band decided to release it now while things were quieter. It’s an unexpected treat for fans, especially given how much the world has changed.

Merchandise and the Art of Shock Brand

When asked about Art of Shock merchandise, Art mentioned that the band doesn’t plan on using other artists’ logos or designs for their merch. “I have mixed feelings about it,” he admitted. “It feels weird to just copy someone else’s design for the sake of humor. The best designs come from actual artists and the bands themselves, not just for catching people’s attention.”

For the band, authenticity is key. And while many might capitalize on the novelty of copying iconic band logos, Art prefers to stay true to Art of Shock’s own unique image.

Describing the Sound of Art of Shock

So, how would Art describe the band’s music? It’s rock and roll with a thrashy edge. “I wouldn’t call us pure thrash metal, but it’s definitely thrashy rock and roll,” Art explained. The band’s sound blends elements of thrash with a rock sensibility, creating something uniquely their own.

Signing with Century Media: A Dream Realized

Being signed to Century Media is a major milestone for Art of Shock, and the bassist reflected on what it meant for the band. While the timing of the album release—right at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown—wasn’t ideal, Art noted that they were still grateful for the support. “The album dropped during the first week of the lockdown, the same week our tour with Sepultura was supposed to start,” he said. “Luckily, that tour has been rescheduled for next year.”

As for whether signing with a major label was a dream come true, Art shared that it was indeed a huge accomplishment for the band. “It’s been great, but we’re still adjusting to the circumstances. Hopefully, once everything opens up, we can get back on stage and do what we love.”

Looking Ahead: New Music and More Touring

Even though 2020 has been full of uncertainty, Art of Shock has been using the extra time to work on new material. “We’ve been writing new songs and brainstorming ideas for the next album,” Art said. “That’s one of the positives of having more time. We’ve got lots of ideas and we’re excited to keep moving forward.”

As the world begins to slowly recover, the band is optimistic about the future. “If we all behave, get vaccinated, and take care of each other, I think we’ll be good to go by the second quarter of next year,” Art said.

Reflecting on the Past Year

Looking back at the chaos of 2020, Art acknowledged the hardships many have faced. “It’s been tough for a lot of people, especially in terms of mental health,” he said. “But on the flip side, it’s also been a time to reconnect with family and friends, reflect on what’s important, and create new music.”

While the forced slowdown has had its mental health challenges, Art sees it as an opportunity to reconnect and refocus. “It wasn’t by choice, but it was needed. We have to make the most of it.”

Final Thoughts: Stay Positive

As we all look ahead to the future, Art left fans with a simple message: “Stay positive, be safe, and let’s all do our part so we can enjoy music together again soon.”

Art of Shock may be navigating through a strange and uncertain time, but their passion for creating music and staying connected with their fans remains strong. With new music on the horizon and a hopeful outlook for the future, the band is ready for whatever comes next.
