Aberdeen’s greatest export since Nirvana, METAL CHURCH, to descend on Goldfield Trading Post for some mid-week, heavy metal mayhem. September 27.

Now 13 albums into their long and storied 5-decade- long career that began in San Francisco and eventually found better footing in the Pacific Northwest, Metal Church are still delivering quality records as evidenced by their latest offering on Rat Park records, ‘Congregation of Annihilation.’

Sadly, singer Mike Howe, passed away in July of 2021 from long term mental illness while the band was working on its new album. Said drummer Stet Howland just a month after his passing, “We’re all slowly digesting. We just started talking again a few weeks ago, and we’re barely talking about anything except making jokes, and we have our banter, we’re starting to joke and communicated again together. Building on the future will come, but right now… we’re just like hugging right now, we’re all like ‘I love you, man’. That’s kind of where we’re at. I know everybody wants to know more, when there’s more, you’ll hear about it.”

And as if Metal Church hadn’t suffered enough heartache already, former drummer Kirk Arrington passed away at the age of 61 and just four days before the album’s release.

At present, the band is led by original member Kurdt Vanderhoof (rhythm guitar, keyboards) and rounded out by longtime member Steve Unger (bass), Rick Van Zandt (lead guitar), Stet Howland (drums, percussion) and finally newest member, Marc Lopes (lead vocals)

Doors open at 6pm and the show kicks off promptly at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.goldfieldtradingpost.com for $25 advance or take your chances at the door for a slightly increased cost. Goldfield Trading Post is located at 238 Vernon Street in Roseville. All ages are welcome. Support comes from Los Angeles’ The Bites and Cemetery Legacy.
