Brazilian legends, Max and Igor Cavalera, return to the Sacramento Valley for a night of cutting heads. October 14.

While the split of the original, core Sepultura line-up has always irked longtime fans – ‘Roots’ was the band’s last record – Max Cavalera has always been quite prolific. Whether he’s fronting Soulfly, Nailbomb (two records were released during his time with Sepultura), Cavalera Conspiracy, Killer Be Killed, or Go Ahead And Die, his recorded output has been truly staggering.

For the uninitiated, the new (er) Cavalera releases feature a long overdue, re-recording of the now-classic underground records, the ‘Morbid Visions’ LP and the ‘Bestial Devastation’ EP. The former features a new, never-before released recording of “Burn The Dead” whilst the latter features the “Sexta Feira 13” bonus track. During their teenage tape-trading days, Sepultura originally recorded and released both records on Brazilian label, Cogumelo records, while Max and Igor were just newly-minted teenagers.

Said Max Cavalera about the latest slew of Nuclear Blast releases, “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the creation of Sepultura with my brother Igor than to have these re-recordings be released in the 40th anniversary year, 2023.”

The band’s ambitious 40-city US tour started in New Mexico in late August and wraps up just a couple of days after their Sacramento show. Devout metalheads will be pleased to know the touring line-up also features the talents of Igor Amadeus Cavalera, the youngest of Max’s seven children, on bass and Travis Stone (Pig Destroyer) on lead guitar.

“Sonically and visually, I am 100% proud of what we’ve achieved to bring the true essence of Bestial devastation and Morbid visions to everyone. It was a matter of honor to make sure these two records sound as powerful as possible to our devoted fans and ourselves” added his brother, drummer, and band mate Igor.

If you’re on the fence, go check out the group’s set lists from recent shows which feature both of the seminal records in addition to a much heavier Sepultura medley of “Refuse/Resist,” “Roots Bloody Roots,” and “Territory.”

Opening the night’s thrash-a-thon are gore merchants Exhumed, Incite, and Sacramento’s own Tomb Of Minerva. Tickets are $32.50 advance can be purchased at http://www.aceofspades.com.
