SUGAR PINE MUSIC FESTIVAL @ Nevada County Fairgrounds – October 19 to 22

The newly-minted Sugar Pine Music Festival, formerly the Hangtown Music Festival in Placerville, moves to Grass Valley for four days of eclectic and eccentric music. October 19 to 22.

Brought to you by the same folks who curate the enormously successful High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy, now in its 33rd year, there is no shortage of talent at the inaugural Sugar Pine Music Festival. Once more, the serene and beautiful setting of the Nevada County Fairgrounds is a major step up from its previous Placerville digs.

This year’s featured acts include (but most certainly are not limited to) Lettuce, Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe (Beastie Boys Tribute featuring members of Slightly Stoopid), ALO, Ron Artis II & The Truth, Carolyn Wonderland, Dead Winter Carpenters, Honey Island Swamp Band, and Joe Craven as acting MC.

For those night owls who can’t get enough music in one day, there will be special late-night soirees each night of the multi-day festival. Expect extended sets and lots of dancing shenanigans.

Additionally, this family-friendly event encourages costumes for its duration and has a large KidZone featuring myriad activities such as wizardry, monster art, pumpkin carving, children’s dance parties, and more.

Expect a boatload of vendors selling their wares (full list on venue website) in addition to some of the best food and drink fare you’ll likely find at any festival of this size.

Tickets can be purchased at www.sugarpinemusicfest.com in advance or at the door for an extra charge. Four-day passes include walk-in camping and are $295.50 while other single, two-, and three-day pass options will be readily available. RV parking and standard vehicle parking are an additional fee.
