How often do you get to watch a live performance from one of the masters of Guitar Hero’s legendary songs?
Would you believe they also play disco metal as well as cover metal versions to songs on the Titanic soundtrack and Taylor Swift? DragonForce, a well-loved power metal band from London, delivered a mind-blowing performance that left a sold-out UC Berkeley Theater wanting more and more. The show wasn’t stagnant for a second – all-out energy from the moment they stepped foot on stage. Each member rotated all over the stage as well as stood above the crowd on two gigantic replicas of vintage video arcade games. The music was fast and technical, and each member played their instrument effortlessly. DragonForce always engaged with the audience, whether telling personal stories on the research done to write some of their songs to throwing a giant stuffed chicken into the crowd asking everyone to help the bird crowd surf from front to back of the theater to eventually return safely to the stage by the end of the song. This show had everything – confetti cannons, enormous blow up dragons, great vocals, and fast music. DragonForce live has got to be one of the best metal shows I have seen and can’t wait to see them again!
