Originally recorded during their “Women and Children Last” era, this raw and unfiltered conversation with Wednesday 13 and Joey Jordison gives fans a glimpse into their creative chaos, road life, and horror-fueled inspirations.
Where’s Home for You These Days?
Wednesday 13:
“I’m from North Carolina but I live in California now. I’ve been in L.A. a while… not sure if I’ll stay, but North Carolina will always be home.”
Joey Jordison:
“I’m still in Des Moines, Iowa — born and raised. It’s where I built my whole career. I’m not really an L.A. or New York guy. I like to stay close to my roots.”
Animal Lovers… or Not?
Joey:
“I’ve got a cat, Smokey – tour cat! He was in our ‘Nowhere’ video too. Picked him up from a shelter on a whim.”
Wednesday:
“I like animals… mainly to eat. Big carnivore. No tofu or garden burgers here.”
On ‘Women and Children Last’ – The Album Title
Wednesday:
“We were throwing around album names before recording. We were going to call it The World According to Revenge, but it felt too serious. Then I said, ‘Women and Children Last’ — kind of a play on the Van Halen album Women and Children First — and it stuck. It just fits our twisted sense of humor.”
Winning “Comeback of the Year” at the Revolver Awards
Joey:
“We had no idea. We were there to introduce Alice Cooper and they said, ‘You’re going up to get your award.’ Totally surprised. It was cool because it was fan-voted. That made it special.”
Special Guest: Mick Mars from Mötley Crüe
Wednesday:
“We never planned on guests, but we were working on a solo for ‘Drug Me to Hell’ and I said, ‘This has a Mick Mars vibe.’ Our manager called him and two days later, he was in the studio. It was like he was in the band for a few hours. Total legend.”
Limited Edition Album Goodies
Joey:
“We came up with some wild stuff for the deluxe edition — a first aid kit, a T-shirt, and a pill bottle. It was just us throwing out weird ideas: ‘What can we get away with?’”
Still Hooked on Horror
Wednesday:
“I don’t really dig the new horror stuff. I’m more into the classics. The Strangers was probably the last good one I saw.”
Joey:
“I’m all about ‘70s and ‘80s horror — the stuff that gave me nightmares and shaped my music. I keep watching the same old films. They never get old.”
On the Road… and in the Cold
Wednesday:
“North Carolina just had nearly 100 tornadoes. Luckily none hit near my family.”
Joey:
“Iowa gets everything – brutal winters, tornadoes, but beautiful springs and falls. I remember freezing my ass off before practice one winter – wind chill was -60. We still went.”
