Warped Tour in Mountain View was already on fire, but Japan’s Crossfaith came in and turned it into a full-blown inferno. Known for their explosive fusion of metalcore and electronic beats, these guys didn’t just play—they destroyed the stage. We caught up with the band right after their set to talk music, partying, and everything in between.
Meet Crossfaith
Hailing from Osaka, Crossfaith has been shaking up the heavy music scene since 2006 with their genre-bending sound and high-octane performances. The lineup features:
- Kenta Koie – Vocals
- Kazuki Takemura – Guitar
- Terufumi Tamano – DJ / Electronics
- Hiroki Ikegawa – Bass
- Tatsuya Amano – Drums
Amazingly, most of the band members have been friends since they were six or seven years old—something that’s kept the group tight through the years. Aside from a single lineup change in 2008, they’ve stuck together like brothers.
On-Stage Rituals? One Word: Alcohol
When asked how they get hyped before a show, the answer came fast: drinking. Whether it’s beer, whiskey, or their signature drink (thanks to their hit “Jägerbomb”), alcohol is their unofficial sixth member. In fact, the band is sponsored by Jägermeister, who sends them a bottle before every show. Rock star perks, anyone?
“Alcohol is my fuel,” guitarist Kazuki laughed.
Jams, Influences, and What’s On Repeat
Their musical tastes are as diverse as their sound. Some current obsessions include:
- Lamb of God
- Nine Inch Nails
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Limp Bizkit
While most kids their age were jamming to local J-Pop, Crossfaith had their ears locked on Western metal and rock. Their love for heavy music and electronic vibes eventually led them to discover dubstep, especially through artists like Skrillex and compilations like Scream.
“Dubstep has the same energy as hardcore—it fits us perfectly,” Teru explained.
What’s Next for Crossfaith?
The band is gearing up to release their new album, Apocalyze, dropping August 20. Along with the album comes a new music video that promises a sci-fi twist—imagine Star Trek meets breakdowns.
After Warped Tour wraps, they’re heading back to Japan for a headlining tour before flying out to perform at Reading and Leeds Festival in the UK. They’ll be sharing the stage with massive acts like Nine Inch Nails and Skillet.
Life Off Stage (Still Pretty Wild)
When they’re not melting faces on stage, Crossfaith keeps things fun—skateboarding, partying with other bands, watching movies, and of course, making music. Free time? Who needs it when your entire life is a party?
Final Words from the Band
“Come to our show. Bring alcohol. Let’s party!”
That pretty much sums it up.
Crossfaith isn’t just a band—they’re a storm. And if you haven’t seen them live yet, you’re missing out on one of the most electrifying acts in modern heavy music.
Stay tuned for their new album Apocalyze, and keep an eye out for their upcoming music video—it’s going to be next level.
