LIZZY BORDEN Talks New Music, Wild Shows, and the State of Metal at NAMM 2014

At NAMM 2014, Capital Chaos TV caught up with shock-rock legend Lizzy Borden to talk about his recent performance, future plans, and the evolving world of heavy metal. Fresh off a high-energy show at the Epiphone party, Lizzy had plenty to share—from debuting a new stage mask to discussing his writing process and lineup changes. Here’s how it all went down.

Post-Show Insanity at the Epiphone Party

“We just played the Epiphone party last night—total insanity,” Lizzy laughed. “I debuted a brand-new mask, probably the sickest, craziest mask ever designed by RISK Khan. It’s for the song Abnormal and fits the lyrics perfectly.”

But the mask wasn’t the only memorable part.

“Gibson brought over their tour bus, and it turned into one big fun party. Just an incredible night overall.”

New Music & Industry Shifts

So what’s going on in the world of Lizzy Borden in 2014?

“I’m writing daily,” Lizzy explained. “I’m focused on making one amazing record. I haven’t decided how I want to release it yet. The music industry’s changed so much—everyone’s still figuring it out. But what matters most is making something truly great. Once I have that, I’ll worry about how to get it out there.”

Guitarist Changes & Collaborations

Just a week prior, Lizzy’s longtime guitarist Dario Lorina joined Black Label Society, opening the door for the return of former bandmate Ira Black.

“Last night was our first show with Ira in over five years. We only had a few rehearsals, but the chemistry came right back,” Lizzy said. “It’s always cool to see people recognize the talent that’s come through our band. Dario’s amazing, and I’m happy for him.”

He added, “We’ve had players go on to David Lee Roth, Halford, and more. It’s our way of contributing to the metal community—helping launch great musicians.”

NAMM Memories & Encounters

Having attended NAMM for years, Lizzy has seen the event transform.

“We used to come when no one was here—just a jazz band at the Hilton and four people drinking cocktails. Now it’s massive,” he reminisced.

Even with only a few hours on the floor this year, Lizzy had already run into some big names.

“We had a great chat with Tommy Denander, a session guitarist who’s played on hundreds of the biggest records. At NAMM, every five feet you run into someone you know or admire. That’s the beauty of this show.”

Gear Talk & Upcoming Shows

Lizzy is also on the hunt for some new gear.

“I’m looking for a new set of in-ear monitors. I want something that really works for me, so we’re checking out different booths today.”

As for performances, the band is heading to Las Vegas on February 22 to play at The Country Saloon.

“We’re excited. It’s the beginning of a new chapter with Ira back in the mix.”

A Message to the Fans

Before wrapping up, Lizzy had a final message for fans and supporters of heavy metal:

“Go out and buy some Lizzy Borden records—and support metal!
The only way to keep it alive is by going to shows and buying the music.
If you’re getting it for free, you’re not supporting it—and it’ll disappear further underground than it already is.”

Thanks again to Lizzy Borden for taking the time to talk with us at Capital Chaos TV. Stay loud, stay proud, and support the music you love.
