When Julien-K hit the stage at Sacramento’s Starlet Room on September 27, the room was packed and the crowd was more than ready to let loose. From the opening notes, the American electro-industrial rock powerhouse unleashed a wall of sound that immediately took over the venue. With thunderous beats, soaring guitars, pulsing synths, and a relentless stage presence, Julien-K turned the intimate club into an absolute dance floor.

The band was firing on all cylinders throughout the night, moving effortlessly from one song to the next while seamlessly switching instruments and maintaining a tight, driving groove. There was an almost mechanical precision to the performance, but never at the expense of raw energy. Every beat, riff, and synth line hit with purpose, keeping the audience locked in and moving from beginning to end.

Frontman Ryan Shuck was impossible to ignore. Delivering powerful vocals while tearing through rhythm guitar, dancing across the stage, and constantly engaging with the audience, Shuck brought an infectious energy that spread throughout the room. Amir Derakh was equally commanding, effortlessly shifting between lead guitar and synthesizers while delivering the kind of visual presence that makes watching a live band just as exciting as hearing one. Behind them, Galen Waling pounded out the drums with machine-like precision, providing the relentless rhythmic engine that drove the entire performance.

What made the night especially memorable was the connection between the band and the audience. This wasn’t a performance where the musicians simply stood onstage and played their songs—the crowd was part of the experience. Fans danced, sang along, and fed the band’s energy right back to them, creating an electric atmosphere that only seemed to intensify as the night went on.

And when the final song ended, Julien-K wasn’t finished connecting with their fans. A long line quickly formed at the merch table, where the band members took the time to meet people, thank them for coming, and make fans feel genuinely welcomed. That personal interaction added the perfect finishing touch to an already unforgettable night.

Julien-K proved that night why intimate club shows can be some of the most powerful experiences in rock. The combination of crushing industrial rhythms, infectious electronics, killer guitar work, and nonstop stage energy made this a performance that didn’t just entertain—it hit hard, moved the crowd, and left the Starlet Room buzzing long after the last note faded.
