On a hot day in Sacramento, Capital Chaos TV had the chance to hang out in the parking lot of the Ace of Spades with none other than Chuck Billy, frontman of the legendary thrash metal band Testament. We talked about touring, new music, and how it feels to see people buying physical records again.

Still Repping the Bay
Even though the sun was blazing, Chuck was in good spirits.
Chuck Billy: “It’s going good, man. Sweating out here today, but that’s a good thing.”
When asked if he’s still based in Oakland, he confirmed:
“We still rehearse in Oakland—our studio’s there. It’s where we’ve been for 25 years now.”
We couldn’t help but mention how awesome the weather is in Oakland.
“That’s nice, man. We’re lucky. California weather—you can’t beat it.”
On the Road Again
Testament is currently deep into their tour cycle.
“It’s the third leg of the tour. This is the first show of the third leg, and we’re working our way north into Canada. We’ll be touring across Canada for about three weeks.”
And is there a fourth leg in the works?
“They were talking about it—maybe in Europe. We’ll see… if the people want it, eh?”
A New Album That Hits Hard
Testament recently dropped a new album about six weeks ago, and it’s been making waves among fans—especially those who still love physical media.
“I think Nuclear Blast did a great job marketing it. Instead of releasing a record and then putting out bonus stuff months later, we did it backwards.”
“We dropped vinyl in five different colors, digipaks, bonus DVD packs—we gave the fans a full selection. And I guess they dug it.”
Chuck also reflected on the return of physical media in an age of digital streaming:
“It’s kind of like going back to the way it used to be—people buying records, looking at the covers, and putting them on. It was nice to see people excited about getting physical product again.”
He added:
“We even did some interviews in the Bay Area where we played vinyl on the radio—and they just don’t do that anymore.”
With a successful album release and another tour leg underway, Testament continues to deliver the kind of raw, authentic metal that fans crave.
