Sinister Creature Con claws its way into Sacramento, Ca this Father’s Day Weekend 2018

Sinister Creature Con will make its Spring debut in Sacramento at the Scottish Rite Center on Father’s Day Weekend on June 16th & 17th, 2018. It promises to be the go-to event for every horror and sci-fi enthusiast. If you can’t get enough of horror film classics like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and the film that is arguably the best horror Film of all time, The Exorcist, this event is a must-see.

Not only will Sinister Creature Con offer its patrons a unique behind-the-scenes look into horror films both past and present, it will host some of the stars that made the horror genre what it is today including Friday the 13th’s Steve Dash and Thom Matthews, The Exorcist’s Linda Blair, and Nightmare on Elm Street’s Lisa Wilcox. This is the only convention of its kind that combines the nostalgic and contemporary art of making the intangible creatures of our favorite films real through makeup application and artistic fabrication. This event will also feature Academy Award winning make-up artist, Tami Lane, Emmy Award winning make-up artist, Eryn Krueger Mekash, Hollywood film legend, Paul Sorvino, and 80’s icon, C Thomas Howell.

Attendees will be treated to makeup application workshops, foam fabric and airbrush classes, cosplay competitions and panels led by industry specialists. Attendees can look forward to SFX demos and workshops from SyFy’s Face Off alumni, Keaghlan Ashley (Season 7) and Chloe Sens (Season 6).

More than 100 horror and sci-fi craftsmen, craftswomen, painters, sculptures, filmmakers and SFX studios will converge on the Scottish Rite Center this fall. They will bring with them a massive display of horror and sci-fi related items including prototype sculptures, props, masks, antiques and oddities.

Sinister Creature Con is proudly sponsored by Heartstoppers Haunted House! Sinister Creature Con After Party at Sacramento’s Holy Diver featuring Aurelio Voltaire and Unwoman will take place Saturday evening on June 16th. Tickets are available for VIP tiers and a’ la Carte.

“If you’ve ever found yourself marveling at the wonderfully terrifying creatures, demons and monsters in your favorite horror films, you can’t miss this event,” says Tim Meunier, Convention Co-Founder & Director, and Sponsorships. “We’ve gathered some of the most talented and creative CG artists, special makeup effects artists and sculptors. Their unflinching attention to detail often goes underappreciated—but in truth, horror just wouldn’t be the same without their unique talents. That is exactly why we developed Sinister Creature Con—to celebrate those responsible for our best nightmares and pull them from behind the curtain into the spotlight.”

Visit Sinister Creature Con and learn how special effects and makeup application are used to create the characters you love to fear. Free admission is available for children ages ten and under.
